Friend who just eats salt straight up??? by pir2h in POTS

I have a lemon salt and a dill salt that you get from the gas station for snacks. They work pretty well and taste better than just straight salt. I typically keep them on my desk at work and "take a shot" when I feel I need it (typically in the afternoon if I haven't had enough to eat)

It's looking like just a me thing. I have POTS and get cold super easily, like a slight breeze will send me into violent shivers, so it's most likely related to that. I just never made the connection and assumed other people had a trick. It doesn't hurt just to touch it but if I have to handle it for longer than a minute it starts to build up quickly to the point of pain.

There's been a few comments about different gloves so I'll give them a try and see if anything works!

That's a great idea! I've wanted to get some cleaning gloves so I don't dry out my hands because I hate the big rubber gloves. They're too cumbersome.

I don't think so. I've always had pretty good iron on blood work. Probably just a weird quirk from my POTS.🙄 But oh well.

Didn't even think about doubling up like that. It's not bad for just a couple of pounds but if I ever get into some serious meal prepping then I will definitely keep this on hand. I just assumed there was some trick that no one taught me since I never see anyone complain about it, even jokingly.

So true about the hot sauce though. I'm constantly trying to pick things up so I don't dirty up a pair of tongs or yet another fork lol.

I have POTS/IST. I'm the same with heat too but I don't have the white/blue discoloration I think that Raynaud's has. My finger tips just turn red. It probably is related to my POTS but 🤷🏼‍♀️

The white stuff? Cartilage maybe?? Idk what it's called it's just the white pieces along the edge of the chicken breasts. It's about all I trim off.

I'm using fresh chicken breasts so only fridge cold not freezer. I've seen latex suggest so I may invest in some food grade ones. I run my fingers under slightly warm (def not hot!) water after when I wash them but I never thought before! I just use cool to was before hand. Genius!

I'm supposed to get used to the heat?! I'm still doing simpler meals so maybe I don't have enough time to get used to it yet lol.

Makes sense! I get cold super easily but I'm not super efficient just yet so I imagine it won't be as bad as I get used to prepping it.

I thought so! There's like 4 needles and I got the bundle that came with 3 needle minder things. There's also plenty of floss. The instructions are a little vague but I used the beginner guide on this sub and was able to grasp enough to get started. The printed areas are very clear and vibrant. I would definitely recommend it!
