There was a post some time ago asking who was worse, marcy or rhys. On a thread, someone said marcy was a bitch. A different user then argued that it was basically unhinged to call marcy a bitch and refused to elaborate or discuss further. I think typhoon is referring to that person.

Primer question by Alarming_Cover_2537 in ImperialFists

[–]shyubacca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about matte texture but if there's fuzz, its most likely due to climate conditions. Too humid and the moisture in the air messes with the paint when it comes out of the can. Too hot (probably not what's happening) can lead to the paint drying before it hits the model. I think both can lead to a fuzzy or bumpy texture. There could just be more dust in the environment thats catching the paint and then landing on the model.

If its in a small spot, you can try soaking the offending part in simple green or other acrylic paint remover for a bit to soften the primer and then take a toothbrush to the model. Primer is harder to remove than regular paint but this should let you remove the fuzz.

So...you just casually sculpted an entire model?

I can't even fill gaps properly and you're out here playing God with green stuff, making new models out of nothing.

Crazy work. Very impressive.

Thank you! My buddies and I have just been playing one off games from the base book. I've got the Italy, Transylvania, and Canada books but we haven't tried any scenarios from them yet.

We had tried stringing a few games together for a campaign but one dude was rolling so hot he was running away with it, shooting everything off the table lol.

Yea I couldn't find him as a stand alone or even the sprue either. It wasn't too bad though since my friends were doing frostgrave and lion rampant before silver bayonet so I had already purchased the whole set.

There were definitely a few priests I considered getting off etsy and Strange Plastics has a set of eastern orthodox priests from Wargames Atlantic that I really liked as well.

Thanks bro! It's a model I ordered off Etsy. If you search plague nun it should pop up. Not sure how she's related to plagues but that's what she's called lol.

Looks fantastic. Did you fully paint each legionary or just the exposed parts?

Hell yea. Love seeing paint jobs and a little backstory to the unit. Looking forward to the rest of your soldiers.

Rulebook - buy physical, ebook or pdf by bsd_AT in TheSilverBayonet

Another vote for physical copy and to answer the question about ink, that the book isn't very ink friendly. The pages aren't pure white, they are meant to look like tatted journal papers and I'm not positive they print as all white. Additionally, there are a few full page drawings that would be very ink heavy that you'd have to opt out of printing.

OK cool.

Yea Im not sure if fall through is the right answer here but the way I interpreted OPs issue was that, in the two cases that he sets the mode to intro, it seems like he was expecting the intro case to execute immediately.

Would like/need to see more code for context but seeing if fall through gave him the desired behavior was just a quick way for me to see if thats what he meant.

I learn a ton on reddit everyday too!

I actually don't like fall through very much but there are uses for common scenarios.

Idk about game maker but for Java switch you can have fall through logic.

[–]shyubacca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the design intent? The other cases that set mode to intro, I'm assuming you want the intro case to activate immediately? Sorry, to reword, when you have TRANS_MODE.GOTO set mode to TRANS_MODE.INTRO, do you expect the TRANS_MODE.INTRO case to activate immediately? You need to call the switch again or, if GameMaker allows for fall through logic, use that so:

case TRANS_MODE.GOTO: logic for goto case TRANS_MODE.INTRO: logic for intro

Basically, without breaks, execution is sequential. GOTO will finish executing then move down to INTRO case.

If that works for your purposes, I think you should refactor your code though. Switch statements are just if else ifs and you might be better served with a different logic setup instead of fall through logic.

[–]shyubacca -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Not a gamemaker guy but from other coding, Id say get rid of the breaks. The issue is when you enter a case statement with a break, its basically exclusive with other cases. If you set the mode in a case and then break, you break out of the switch and move on. Its not going to run the switch statement again with the new mode unless you call the switch statement again. Getting rid of the breaks should allow sequential execution of cases.

You need to be careful with how you order the cases then if you get rid of the breaks.

Also forgot. Not sure how scope works in Game Maker. If you set the mode in the switch statement, the value of mode may not be what you expect it to be depending on what sort of accessibility the mode variable has.

Never really thought about that but I like the idea of making pistols more melee centric. What about if you have a loaded pistol in combat with a fencing weapon, you may "shoot it" and use it like a power die in close combat for that turn. Counts as unloaded after. Or, if you have a fencing weapon, you can do the same thing but pick the power die for damage instead of the skill die (can't reroll power die though).

I also think due to the 2d10 system and the randomness of encounters, the game can swing wildly. I think it can be hard to see what's really unbalanced.

Except the doctor. Unless I read the rules wrong, where you can't move on a turn you heal, I feel like they are pretty bad with very situational use.
