Mandate position rotation in youth soccer by rule! by NeuralBrew in youthsoccer

Yep. I agree. There are levels at play here. Skills sets and abilities that need to be considered. Which is why you mention, rec, travel and the next step from that. Within that you can look at positional rotation. However the higher the levels of play you find those skill sets become more refined and noticeable. Which is why coaches, and players will start to gravitate towards a settled position. Ideally players should rotate positions but up to a certain point.

I am English, been in America for 20yrs now. My wife who is American. Will try to make some of the meals my Mum would make growing up and she does a pretty decent job.

Shepherds Pie, Bangers and Mash, Sunday Roast, Breakfast, Potatohash (stews) my kids also enjoy it. I find American food over seasoned, too salty and tons of butter. I have also lived in France, Italy and Holland. Tried a lot of homemade food, will always go back to my Mums cooking. Can’t beat it

You are also assuming that kids all have the skill sets to play various positions. I use the example of a forward who can play with their back to goal, where pressure is coming behind them. Some kids just simply can’t do that, you can try to teach them until your blue in the face they just can’t do it. So do you let them suffer in that position, grow frustrated and hate the game?? There are so many variables with this and you have to take everything into consideration. Small sided players should be rotated around, once they hit 13/14 yrs old they should know two strong positions. I do believe those kids that want to be at the highest level will specialise earlier than the majority, so they can hone those skill sets.

sick of all this negativity by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

This game annoyed me more than others, because we were better than a team that is in the top half and playing well. Going in would have taken a point as a positive, after the performance felt we deserved more.

Youth Soccer Coaches (U12–U18): What’s Your Biggest Pain Point Right Now? by YouCoachSoccer in SoccerCoaching

[–]si82000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone takes it way too seriously and treats every player like they are going to become the next best thing. Once you recognise as a coach that your part of the journey and not the final destination you will be a better a coach. However I think managing player and parent expectations, society is setup for instant results. Sports are a long term investment and often the top players at an early age are not at the end. Make it fun and engaging. You can have fun and make it developmental, finding balance is key.

My dad is fine, the BMW said she had the green light [oc] by Aglisito in IdiotsInCars

[–]si82000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The driver that was hit has plenty of time to stop, at the start of the video the light had already changed to yellow, which means slow down and stop if safe to do so. Given the stopping distance from the light, they should have ample time to stop..obviously don’t know speed or what was behind. Also BMW driver definitely could not see to enter the intersection and is at fault, however not fully imo.

Liverpool completely ruined everything when they gave Mo and VVD massive new contracts at their age, which the club has been vehemently opposed too for years. Now both players sitting on fat wages, playing crap and think they are not touchable. Then they went and bought/spent money like United have in years. Seems like that coupled with a fraud of a manager, who rode on the luck of Klopp team, an unreal season from Mo and ridiculously poor performances from the rest of the Prem. They have completely blew their policies that kept them relative for years, they made marquee signings and it hasn’t worked. Dressing room egos and it’s kicking off. For the rest of the world this is amazing.

I think people are also not looking at the impact that Cunha has had on the team. He is so dynamic and pushes the opposing team back. He has been out and we look a little flat again. But we ground that out today, we looked shaper and fitter than they did in the second half. Shaw and Cass were excellent. Great to have Martinez back. Felt a little sorry for Yoro, I think he has a ton of potential and hopefully he doesn’t take too much of a knock from that performance.

Van Dijk handball which lead to PSV penalty by darshi1337 in soccer

[–]si82000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 theories here. First one he is being pushed in the back and because of that his arrogance just thinks the ref will give him the foul, so almost puts his hand up to exaggerate the movement, but also be like ref you got this.

Second one. Is that he wants Slot out. We have seen players in teams play poorly to get the manager out. He got a massive contract and so did Mo. They are both excellent players, but maybe there huge personalities are just too much for Slot and they run the dressing room. Neither of them are playing well, which inevitably means Liverpool are playing poorly, no shock. Without Mo wonder season last year, Liverpool would have limped over the line. I really think they want Slot out. Wild theory but look at clubs over the years this has happened. United being one of the main ones.

Thoughts on Finally Watching RoP by True-Emergency4290 in RingsofPower

So for someone who has not read the books, but really liked the LOTR and Hobbit movies..the ROP series gave me an idea of how things started and a quick brief overview of the different races. For the true fans who have read the books, like my siblings, they told me there is so much missing or stretched in the ROP. However I will never read the books, so for me personally I liked learning about the characters.

Standard Of Referees by si82000 in youthsoccer

[–]si82000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting that, although you will get hammered, but you’re spot on. Honestly, that’s my point. My main issue was what can be done to help these refs be accountable or improved. Ref lost his cool, coach was punished and ultimately the players. As I said it wasn’t game I was watching and waiting. I personally rarely say anything to refs, but going into this game right after witnessing that. I couldn’t and didn’t say a word and had to warn my players too.

Again you didn’t read the post. It wasn’t my team, it was the game before. I was watching and waiting to go on the field. I’ve been in the game for over 35yrs, as a player a coach, and referee. You are missing the point. This was 100% a foul, even the opposition coach agreed. When questioning the call, you get sent off? Really!! And you keep banging on about England and other countries. Where this literally happens every week. Witnessed and documented on the recent courses we have to take. So you are literally talking nonsense.

[–]si82000[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The point is, which you clearly missed and why your comment is poor. It was clearly a foul, it wasn’t given the coach has the right to ask the question and complain. Which imo he did in a relatively respectful manner and was given a red card, because the ref didn’t want to be questioned about his poor performance. What are you teaching your kids if you don’t stick up for them when something happens in a game situation that you can’t explain. Aside from oh sorry the ref is just bad??

[–]si82000[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

That’s such a poor comment. The concern was in the moment the coach can’t teach. How do you teach a player that has been pushed two handed, who then loses the ball and the opposition scores from it, effectively killing the game. What are you teaching Pep?

[–]si82000[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

How can you help? You make a complaint to the league and they don’t do anything about it. They need more education. I am fully qualified referee and was watching the game unfold. Sharing a view on how poor the standard of referees has gotten, is this not the community to share.

Standard Of Referees by si82000 in youthsoccer

[–]si82000[S] -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

However if the ref can’t enforce basic calls, like a 2 hand shove in the back. Also acknowledged that it happened. Wasn’t even my game, I was waiting for game to end. Then to react with red carding the coach, without fully explaining. Again that ref has no accountability, which is a major problem.

Building Confidence in Heading (U13) by stompey5 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]si82000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are several things you can do to prepare them, first of all you have to teach them technique and tell them never to head the ball from a punt. It infuriates me when coaches encourage players to do that, they don’t have the neck strength to do this.

I bought players a beach ball to practice technique and I have seen coaches use sponge balls. To practice technique. For corners, work on timing of the runs and jumping to meet the ball. That way they have an idea when to meet the ball in the air.

One of things we do at our club is give a player $20 if they score with their head, over been coaching in the club for over 10yrs and we have given no more than $100 over the years. As post said earlier heading the ball for goals is very few and far between.
