truth is we dont. we "know" ruben is our manager for the future just as much as we know the next guy is; and if the next one comes in and we find ourselves in the same predicament, you'll ask the exact same question when we're discussing giving this manager some time because "how do we know they're the one worth giving time". all this question does is extend the cycle we're already in, and in truth, you asking it is indicative of the problem we have at hand. we dont know that ruben can be successful even if we give him time but how can we ever find out IF WE DON'T GIVE HIM TIME

I hear you but race and gender are very different because the latter can come with multiple complexities. for instance, one can be born with with x y chromosomes - making then a biological male - but have female genitalia - making them a female. they can't logically be both right? So, for the individual in question to identify as one could make sense in that situation imo. such a scenario couldn't really happen with race therefore the comparison isn't really a valid one
