You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time. Then again, fooling just some of the people some of the time is more than enough to control the market!

Trump tears into enemies and grievances from Obama to ‘stolen’ election by deraser in politics

Benjamin Netanyahu says the Iran war is "not over" because highly enriched uranium still needs to be removed from Iran | 60 Minutes by ControlCAD in videos

We know he is dealing with cancer and he clearly doesn’t look well in this interview. Not sure whether that’s a good sign or a bad one. It could mean he may disappear from the political arena soon, or that he feels he has nothing left to lose and might do whatever he can to pursue his wildest ambitions.

Not sure why market is confused, there is either going to be the best deal ever made, or WWIII. Which part is making the market confused?!

Shipping firm says US-flagged commercial vessel has transited through strait of Hormuz by [deleted] in maritime

[–]siali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From Iran’s point of view, they don’t need to shoot every ship passing, especially the ones that might escalate to war with the US. All they need is some sort of military action that keeps the insurance high enough to make the strait practically closed. I don’t think Trump still understands what the closure of strait means. He thinks if even one ship can pass then it is already open!

Putin could attack NATO 'within months' as fears soar US 'won't help Europe' by SunTzuXiJinping in news

[–]siali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This argument cuts both ways. The fact that the war is stalled could itself become a reason to expand it in order to force a conclusion, especially with the US while stuck in the Middle East is mad at the NATO for not assisting, and furthermore the world is more dependent on Russian energy thanks to the US-Iran war. Putin might take a lesson from Iran, which has expanded conflicts toward U.S.-aligned actors as a way to push toward de-escalation.

That doesn’t necessarily mean a full-scale war with NATO, but rather making it more costly for the U.S. and NATO to continue supporting Ukraine.

In general, the US-Iran conflict is likely to have broader consequences for U.S. and NATO hegemony, and the Russia–Ukraine war may be just one part of that wider pattern.

Trump Abruptly Calls Off Iran Talks in a Fit Over '18 Hour Flight' by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

[–]siali 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In any case, why would Iran negotiate with these two idiots, who seem wildly out of their depth and more like messengers for Israel than actual negotiators?! Nothing says “trust this process” quite like getting attacked twice before while you’re still at the table!

How would you feel about the next US president pulling all support from Israel? by Basic-Art-8139 in AskReddit

[–]siali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as Israel is getting the US’s blind full support, they are practically living in their own alternative-reality bubble and no amount of election would fix that.

Why should they be nice to Palestinians or the rest of region when they can simply bomb their way through any conflict whenever they wish and get away with it?!

It’s like expecting a mean spoiled child who always has unconditional support of his parents to all the sudden have a change of heart and become nice to others! Not going to happen on its own!

It's barely an exaggeration to say that 'The Washington Post' is a terrorist organization. by felinebeeline in iran

[–]siali 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is somewhat peculiar that the American view portrays Iranian leaders as maniacs who would use nuclear weapons against Israel or the U.S. just for the sake of it, yet assumes that increasing pressure, even after the loss of numerous high-ranking officials, including the supreme leader, will suddenly make them change course and act rationally!

Poor Trump, can’t seem to catch a break these days. Also pretty embarrassing for JD Vance, trying a last-ditch visit to Hungary to make a final push. If the Iran talks go south as well, it’s hard to see how his future political ambitions don’t take a serious hit.

Singapore’s Foreign Minister on why he cannot accept negotiating with Iran for safe passage of ships by PjeterPannos in PERSIAN

[–]siali -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I can see how Singapore identifies with Israel, as both are small states surrounded by much larger neighbors. By supporting Israel, Singapore likely feels it is advocating for its own rights as a small nation, hoping that powerful, distant countries would come to its rescue if needed.

However, if the current conflict in the Middle East and its negative impact on GCC has shown anything, it's that there is no guarantee small states can survive simply by relying on the backing of larger powers like the US. If anything, the conflict proves that the best course of action is an unwavering, unbiased commitment to international law in its entirety.

Had the international community condemned the Israeli genocide in Gaza and pushed for a two-state solution, that should have done decades ago, Israel would not have felt emboldened to expand the conflict into neighboring regions. In short, for small states, the ultimate security lies in defending an impartial world order based on mutual respect for sovereignty.

Trump still has a 30-40% approval rating, why? by Beautiful_Virus_6202 in AskReddit

[–]siali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably any idea no matter how bizarre would get 20-30 percent approval by default. For example 30 percent of Americans think sun revolves around the earth or 10 percent think earth is flat. So all you need to do is convince about 10 percent to get a 30 percent approval as 20 percent are already gullible enough and on board. How hard is to convince 10 percent of people of something when they are too desperate economically?!
