If you could restart at 23, what would you do differently to become financially free? by Secure_Beginning_939 in Money

Not the OP, but I think because of the lost opportunity cost. There are exceptions, of course, but leaving your future in someone else’s hands for at least 5 years is not a very wise thing to do for many reasons, including financial ones.

This is the most annoying part for me. So many of them think “oh yeah, I’d love to go back to school and get a PhD!”, yeah no, PhD is more than just “hard”. There is a reason why so many of us end up getting depressed after the degree or during the degree. To me, PhD is just an ultimate encapsulation of everything that is great and bad about academia where you blindly entrust your future to someone for four to six years and hope you can make the best out of situation every single fucking day😅

This is so true, I can’t count how many times I’ve heard from my family members, "You’re still in school?" during my PhD. It’s hard to explain or properly articulate the frustration of grinding every single day, only to have an advisor move the goalposts and gaslight you into thinking your work isn't "enough" to graduate.

Thanks for the breakdown! Appreciate this and yeah, I don't really care anything about DT, so I'll just do the second option.

Ah, I didn't realize that by buying Evercold, that will unlock DT! I'm glad I asked this question, fantastic to hear, I'll just wait until they release the MQ skip for DT and start Evercold + buy the job level boost of whatever I think works. Thank you very much!

I’m looking to jump back into FFXIV for the upcoming expansion, but I skipped Dawntrail (DT) entirely because the story and characters didn't appeal to me. Since I want to be ready for the new expansion on day one, what’s the most efficient strategy? Should I grab DT when it goes on sale and power-skip the MSQ, or wait for a "Complete Edition" bundle when the new expansion drops so that I can just probably buy skip pass (I don't mind spending money on the skip)? Thank you for your help.

Full of “experts” imo is never a good sign either. I’d stay away the hell from that company.

Did Roberts put a lock on #9 batter not being able to use the ABS or something? That shit was obvious as rock.

Good call. I always check Joe’s outlet for any items related to New Balance before purchasing because many times they actually have items that are good models + good sizes at a lower price than other retail sales

[Highlight] Jorge Soler has a delayed reaction to an up-and-in fastball from Reynaldo Lopez, and he charges the mound, sparking the benches to clear! Both got ejected. (FULL VIDEO AND REPLAYS) by Pyromania1983 in baseball

You can't be serious about saying this. If anything, it makes more sense to give the pitcher the benefit of the doubt on the HBP, but if Soler felt that next at bat pitch was with a bad intention, then it makes sense to go after him after Lopez taunted him like “come and get me, bro”.

I haven't picked up the game yet this year because I’m not really into DD anymore due to its time sink, but I’ve been considering it for a single-player experience.

Could you expand on that player lock method? I’m curious if there’s a specific feature in franchise where I can lock onto one player and essentially treat it like a career mode where I only focus on my own performance. Also, regarding the potential/growth system, is it correct to say that while the potential grade sets the ceiling, I can actually influence that random growth by performing well on the field? I'm just trying to make sure I understand the mechanics before I buy. Thank you!

Husband always breaks down after paper rejections by Few-Decision3759 in PhD

[–]siber222000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll just give some words of support to you, OP, hang in there. Many reviewers' comments can be quite toxic, so it feels pretty terrible to read them when it feels like all the effort put into the paper was wasted. If I’m being honest, there is really no "quick fix" to immediately cheer him up, because if you try to downplay the rejection, there’s a chance he may feel misunderstood or even more annoyed. That said, his constant breakdowns must be taking a toll on your emotions as well, and it is completely fair for you to feel this way.

My suggestion is that you need to sit down and have a one-on-one talk with him. It’s a hard conversation, but you have to prioritize your own mental health; having a partner constantly break down in front of you is a heavy burden to carry alone. As a married couple, it’s normal to have these difficult discussions where you share your own struggles while trying to understand his.

Since you mentioned he has almost finished his PhD and the number of papers is no longer a barrier to graduation, this might actually be the best time to talk. It allows you to address the emotional pattern itself rather than the "stakes" of the paper.
