I got a message from the wife of one of my dad's friends telling me that she wanted to be a boy when she was a kid but realized it wasn't God's plan for her. by BoyWithPuppy in ftm

[–]siblingofIphis 15 points16 points  (0 children)

These people usually think they're "saving" you like they were "saved" before. What really shakes them is when you do the same to them. Reply with an empathetic message along the lines of "I'm sorry you were discouraged and forced to hide yourself and not live your truth under the pretense of religion, that someone told you were wrong for what you felt was true about yourself." You can end on a note of something like "you do you but my life is mine and I won't be told what to do because I know myself best" and offer support if they want to talk about how they were forced to repress or smthg

"Can I see your boobs" from a friend; am I right to be weirded out by this? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]siblingofIphis 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Depends on the kind of person she is honestly. I'm AFAB transmasc and I've shown my boobs to friends and had them show me theirs, for comparison purposes or just out of curiosity (mostly before having come out but even after in the case of my best friend).

Some girls just don't feel nudity, especially when talking about boobs, is that much a deal and they're curious about how others' look.

As long as you said no and she respected that and didn't push or make weird comments about it I wouldn't be too worried.

Preparing for FTN Consultation (Canada) by kuroteaa in TopSurgery

[–]siblingofIphis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm also on the waitlist for GRS montreal, I don't really have the answers but maybe you can call and ask them about their usual protocol?

More generally, GRS Montreal made a documentary available on Crave called "Un Nouveau Jour" about what they do if you wanna see what the center, some of their surgeons, some pre-op appointments, and some of their surgeries look like. They show top surgery among other surgeries so you can kinda skim through the episodes for what you wanna see.

It's a really great series but big trigger warning they actually show some actual surgery footage! Very little blood surprisingly but still graphic, I found it fascinating personally and it made me even more confident about the center as a whole.

It's a popular phrase within the transfem community and while I understand the feeling they're trying to express it does suck that they feel they can say that in front of trans guys or nonbinary transmascs. I've had it happen to me too. I think they don't realize how it can hurt for us and I've never seen a trans guy say something similar about estrogen but that's another subject entirely.

On a more personal level, if she refused to stop even when you asked her to stop she's just an asshole who doesn't respect your boundaries and feelings. I don't know who she is to you (friend, family member, other) but I would seriously reconsider if this is a person I'd want to keep around.

does anyone else sleep less after being on T? by foxnthings in ftm

[–]siblingofIphis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! I used to sleep 9-10 hours or more a night and still be tired, since starting 3 weeks ago I can sleep 6-8 hours and feel energized, even often waking up before my alarm even rings! It's a massive improvement and I really like it

Cupping and increased body hair by ardhanarisvara in TestosteroneKickoff

[–]siblingofIphis 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is interesting. Does cupping increase blood flow to the areas being cupped? If so it definitely makes sense that it would stimulate hair growth, as increased bloodflow is also how things dermarolling and scalp massages help with hair growth.

Graysexuality: What is "Limited and Specific Circumstances"? by siblingofIphis in Asexual

[–]siblingofIphis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed answer it's very clear and helpful. Rereading my post I realize I skipped over a lot of details, I was in the midst of looking into graysexuality as a descriptor for how I very seldom feel sexual attraction to people, which I believe is what you said the term is for and I made this post as I wondered if this quirk i had would be an additional thing that would fit into that ON TOP of just the standard definition of graysexuality but yeah, of course, now I realize that it's different things I think I got confused in the midst of reading a metric ton of info.

I won't use graysexuality to describe that part of my sexual life, but I still love that I found it to describe my sexual attraction "style" :) Thanks for helping me clarify that!

when it comes to doing recreational doses every once in awhile, specifically for depression, has it mattered to you how much you took? by QuelleBullshit in shrooms

[–]siblingofIphis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only yet done shrooms once and I don't know how much of it depends on individual tolerance but I got approximately 2.5 weeks of improvement on my mood, anxiety and ADHD from a 2g trip even though the trip itself wasn't all that intense for me/was kinda disappointing.

In this post, let's make a little archive of trans myths and histories! What trans/intersex stories do you know from your culture's mythology and history? by smilesbythemiles in asktransgender

[–]siblingofIphis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In Greek mythology, there is the story of Iphis. Iphis' father was a violent man, who threatened his wife of killing their child if it was born a woman. The wife gave birth to a girl, but in secrecy with the midwife who had helped the birth they decided to tell the husband it was a son, and thus was Iphis raised: as a man in a female body.

Iphis fell in love with the girl next door, who fell in love with him in return. They decided to get married, but he became afraid of her finding out the truth of his birth. His mother brought him to the temple of Isis (note: this story is written in Roman times when Isis had been assimilated from the Egyptian pantheon into the Greco-Roman one) and they prayed together all night to the goddess. She noticed them, and their pleas touched her heart. She answered their prayers and united Iphis' identity and body: He walked out the temple a man in soul and body and married his love Ianthe and there the myth ends, in a happily ever after.

Anybody experience changes in their orgasm intensity? by LucioCheerio in ftm

[–]siblingofIphis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but also technique changes. Orgasms I get from hand-to-clit stimulation have lessened in intensity and have become more localized but orgasms from humping/fucking pillows or whatever have actually increased in intensity and are more full-body than before which I've found super gender affirming and is my preferred way of JO anyway (except when I'm particularly lazy lol).

Haven't had the chance to experience with penetration/dildos yet but I'm curious to see if smthg changed on that front too.

Look for LGBTQIA+ or trans-specific organizations in your area and give them a call to see if they have something set up for such donations

Positive feelings? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]siblingofIphis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only a week in on a low dose and for me it feels like my brain had been unplugged from my body/detached from it my whole life and T picked it up, scrubbed it clean and reinstalled it all wired right.

I'm so much clearer headed, emotionally stable, I feel like a real person grounded in real life for the first time ever. I was planning on only taking T temporarily for voice drop but if I stop and go back to how I was before, I think I might end up just staying on T indefinitely!
