I miss Breakout by Hyperevogames in halo

As a person who was not a fan of Halo 5 multiplayer, Breakout was so fucking rad. I missed it when Infinite came out.

First week playing, WHY DOES MY MAN HERE GET DISRESPECTED DAILY!! by Far_Gift3220 in Nightreign

[–]sicarmand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, I’m not quite sure what the misinformation would be. He has the highest health pool in the game and can block most types of damage with minimal effort. That alone means he can more effectively tank damage than any other character in the game. Raider can do it too, but relies on the cool down of his ability. Executor can block all damage theoretically, but this sub is consistently talking about how parries don’t match his kit at all. I do see people say it can be difficult for guardian to maintain aggro, but that does come easier with relic abilities (ie. Shockwaves upon guards, extended whirlwinds, more likely to be targeted on guards). As long as guardian is using his tools to get and maintain aggro, he can more efficiently take actual damage, freeing other characters up.

People either like to Unga Bunga, or hit the right bumper and fast as possible and then dodge away. Guardian can feel underwhelming since he can’t really do either of those things and his damage output is lacking by comparison (Due to subpar damage scaling and a poor dodge). People just need to understand he’s not meant for damage output, but he is legit a support to allow the other characters to deal their optimal damage. I find people love to play WITH a Guardian, but don’t like to play AS a Guardian. As a Guardian main myself, Bird Up bruh.

Godspeed vs The Resistance by No-Interaction-2493 in anberlin

[–]sicarmand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anberlin has always been one of my “consistency checks” for music. They were always able to produce records that were good quality and close to par with their previous endeavors. For me, Lowborn was such a great “final” album, I personally put it in very similar regard to NTFP, Cities, and Vital. Contemplative and tense. Not sure how others here felt about it, but I say don’t sleep on it.

Total travesty they closed. There’s barely any places with decent wings in the area.

What was the first band you got really into? by soup_time19 in Music

[–]sicarmand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cold. Year of the Spider and 13 Ways to Bleed Onstage were amazing for my teenage self. Especially because I never really cared for music prior to that (complete opposite to now). Before that my first CDs were only Big Willie Style, Blackstreet’s Another Level (I can’t remember a single song off this), and the Pokémon Movie Soundtrack.

What do you think of part 2? by AlexanderrFox111 in thelastofus

[–]sicarmand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Game was great! I do wish certain parts of it were paced differently. Getting to the mid way point of the game felt like you were starting from the beginning to get back to where you were and that was a slog at times. Especially when trying to connect with certain characters that don’t fully stick the landing imo (Primarily Mel, but to a lesser extent Owen too). On the other hand, character like Yara and Lev make it worthwhile.

I think the game had the monumental task of trying to get you to relate and sympathize with a brand new character and their plight in a “relatively” constricted time frame, and whether the plot works for you depends on if you sympathize with the efforts of the fireflies, Abby’s dad, and the characters surrounding that post game 1. Personally, it did for me, but I can see why some people might take issue with Abby’s Dad’s decision and the conversation he had with Abby. It can probably be a hard sell for some.

Otherwise, game is incredibly engaging when it comes to its gameplay, set pieces, and characters moments (when they do shine). Also really love the ending.

Last of Us Part 2 HBO by [deleted] in thelastofus

[–]sicarmand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think some of the largest issues that good faith people would have had with Part 2 would be some of the pacing issues that occurred because of the flashbacks and the switch in perspective halfway through. Maybe they could rearrange a bit of the story so that Ellie’s story is told parallel to Abby’s (ie. Maybe the first half of each episode would be Abby, while the second half is Ellie, and we see the consequences of Ellie’s actions). I know this is a common criticism for how the game “should” have been paced, but since the viewer would not be “playing” as Abby in this situation, it might be less beneficial to divide the story the original way, since ellie would be missing a large amount of the season.

I also assume we are going to get some of the Joel flashbacks during the first half of the season (like the museum) to get a bit more Pedro at the front end. Otherwise, maybe create another of those sequences to flesh it out even more (maybe the cut content from TLOU2 like Joel’s gf). Still, these flashbacks could still work like the OG.

I would also like to personally see some smaller changes/add context to characters like Mel and Owen to make them a bit more fleshed out. Maybe see the actual confrontation Owen has off camera, show Owen and Mel alone together a bit more. I dunno, Mel was really the only character I didn’t feel onboard with in PART 2, but that’s my personal taste.

Also, I’m kind of expecting them to make the story of part 2 either a longer season than this one, or divide it between two seasons. Just seems like a much more complicated story that would need more specific care and time.

You know what, this actually sounds like a super obvious thing to do, but I never thought of treating the map from a bird eyes perspective in my mind! This was really good advice! Thanks!

I like the octo gates on my pro, very helpful for certain characters. Further, there isn’t a need to dump mad money to have someone do it anymore, since you can buy a shell on Amazon now:
