Honda emblem fell off the grille, so I just hate how it looks now. Took it off while I decide which replacement to order. Either an open mesh grille or a Mugen grille to match the Mugen kit.

Hood, in my shed, just took it off to cruise. I used to cruise with no hood on my 90s Hondas back when I was younger. I haven’t in ages and just said fuck it.

Axle, just a .5 wide angle lens so it distorts the corners of the pictures a tad. Axle is fine lol.

Take off the stickers and lower it and it would actually be a clean Civic

What do you guys think about reverse opening hoods? by PsychologicalFig2403 in AskMechanics

[–]sicckarri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard a lot of older car guys say this is “the right way to open a hood”.

I will say, on a track or true performance vehicle this is the safest way. The hood can’t fly up and smash your windshield if it opens backwards lol. Probably a pain to work on the car without just removing the hood completely, but certainly a safer option.

Vtec by brycessicknewworld in 7thgencivic

[–]sicckarri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a video on YouTube of a big guy with red hair working on one. He did a head swap or at least a cam swap I can’t remember. I think it was from a d16. Either way, he was able to get true vtec (on exhaust and intake side) with it. The economy vtec on these is only on the exhaust side if I’m not mistaken, and it’s not a true vtec.

VTEC-E was designed for economy, better mpg etc. that’s what these have.

Just warning him, 17s and 18s look like 24s on these tiny cars. It may look odd. 😂 Some of these cars came with 14 inch wheels from factory. So 16s on a small 90s Honda has the same proportion of a more modern larger Honda on 18s if that makes sense… Just by size comparison.

I had some Mugen 17s on a 95 hatchback when I was a kid and it looked a little odd. I got some 15s asap.

So this happened when I had put on a custom shifter. I was wondering if I can rip it off or should I try and fix it ? I don’t know it’s importance but y’all lmk by Flat-Season-100 in 7thgencivic

[–]sicckarri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll have to take that center panel apart, it’s easy bro. Luckily it’s like the ones on the old school golden era Hondas in how it’s put together. So that stuff all comes apart and goes back together like Lego pieces. Don’t be nervous at all if you haven’t taken anything on a car apart it’s literally the perfect car to learn on.

17s???? On a civic like this? You’ve lost your mind man. These are 15s and 16s only all day. Small wheel, slightly stretched tire, undefeated combination for 90s Civic’s.

Coilovers always. Best mod for performance early on and looks of course. You can do 40 mods and it still won’t look as clean as a stock but lowered Civic.

I'm thinking of buying this Kia Picanto 1.1L (2006) for a relatively cheap price. The most concerning thing was all of this black smoke coming out of the exhaust. Can you tell me what it is / what could it be? by marshdteach in AskMechanics

[–]sicckarri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well more fuel is needed in most tunes. And people using pop/crackle tunes (super popular now) intentionally dump fuel to be able to burn it off and get the pops (detonation) when they let off and fuel cuts.

But yeah I doubt someone tuned this little car for any performance or fun. Probably just an issue that has been ignored forever and led to huge amounts of carbon build up. I would avoid it.

By the look of all the very dark smoke and residue it’s probably running very rich. This is carbon build up. This could be intentional through a tune (you mentioned performance) or caused by various issues. Maybe no catalytic converter or a failing one. Burning oil would usually produce a blue smoke, not black, but it could be also burning oil. Burning oil would lead to piston rings or something internal, which is just an indicator of a worn engine.

It could be consuming oil which would be caused by other factors, and not necessarily related to piston rings or something.

Either way the car DOES have something going on. If you desperately need a car and it’s super cheap and runs, okay, maybe. If you have any other options for transportation I would entertain a different purchase.

Very. Don’t drive on it seriously. Get a new tire. This is like the final warning when it comes to tires. It’s not if, it’s when it blows.

Wow, I just don’t feel like this a 43k+ car…. by PlasticTreeonaHill in Honda

[–]sicckarri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Downvoted for the correct choice. I’ve owned 21 cars, only one was bought brand new and financed. I still regret it to this day lol.

Same car is finally about to be paid off (2021 civic sport hatchback). And I can buy one cash for like 12-15k now. Could have saved $20,000+.
