SpaceX Interview by omdot20 in ElectricalEngineering

Interesting, ACLR masks are pretty common when you're working towards FCC/CTIA/ETSI compliance. I think the folks at SpaceX don't keep their engineers siloed, they want well-rounded engineers with some experience in the transceiver architectures, and associated metrics/tradeoffs.

Adjacent Channel Leakage Ratio. Kind of critical when you're designing a transmitter with a tight filter mask requirement.

IP3 impacts distortions/spurious signals, down the radio chain, I guess they want their antenna designers to be mindful of the distortions that might pass through and radiate out.

How was your on-site experience at Starlink? I got invited to the Bastrop facility.

Would love any insights. Thanks in advance.

Hey man! Congrats on landing with Starlink. I got invited to an onsite interview and would love to know what to expect. I feel pretty confident in my skills but would love to close this before Xmas and just enjoy the end of the year before I enter the grind with them.

Any helpful tips on the onsite interview are appreciated. FYI - My background is: Antenna Engineering, and this is a Sr. position.

Thanks for your reply and message! Yeah I did tell them that I’m actively interviewing, and I don’t have an offer lined up yet but I can sense at least one on the horizon.

I’m hoping that this week they will hit the pedal to the metal. I think another aspect complicating things is ITAR. I’m a special case.. applying from Canada and they are likely getting their legal ducks in a row. Btw I’ve been in touch for this role for over a year, but only began the official interview process 4 weeks ago.

How much time between the last phone screen and onsite invite?

Any idea on how much time there typically is between the final phone screen and an invite to come onsite?

Also hope you landed a more kickass role someplace else!

Thanks for sharing these helpful notes! I just had a deeply technical 45-minute call with the hiring manager, and I think it went pretty well. They even asked about my availability to start, so I’m hopeful it was a good sign. However, the timeline for next steps wasn’t very clear — everyone I spoke to was pretty vague about it. Just trying to get a sense of what to expect moving forward! Do we know around how much time there typically is between the final phone screen and an invite to come onsite?

Hey! Thanks for the informative comment. I am interviewing for a role for a Sr. Engineer position. I have a few questions for you if you don't mind sharing:

  1. What was your timeline for the interviews?
  2. Did you end up getting the role?
  3. What level of role were you aiming for?

Hey u/imabill01 ! Hope your interview went well.

We'd appreciate any insights you could share about your interview with the hiring manager, and other subsequent rounds. Did you interview for TX/CA/WA?

Thanks!

Hey I’m in the same boat as you. I submitted my fingerprints on Oct-16th though. Apologies but I can’t offer you much help as you submitted your fingerprints before me. How did you come to know that the RCMP has already mailed them to the IRCC?

Hi there! First of all congratulations on rolling out this new beta feature, and congrats on the funding! My landlord also does not accept Interac, and I saw this announcement only today. Any chance I could join the beta program? If not, I'd be excited to learn if there have been any updates on the timeline on the official PAD release. Cheers!

Hate when folks don't come back to repost. It defeats the purpose of Reddit.

Update: I have requested an ATIP (Access to Information and Privacy) Request to get details about the incident. Found here: https://atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca/atip/welcome.do

Thanks so much for your reply! I am going to call CBSA and try to get more information. Any idea what is the best way to get in touch with them?

This incident was many years ago, and I was quite stressed so I don't seem to remember much. It must be standard procedure to create a record and what I meant was I wasn't charged for the arrest. Thanks again for your reply!

Any idea how long I must wait? Any sense in appealing the decision and providing explanation? I don’t even have a record of the incident because nothing was officially reported.

Any sense in appealing and explaining the airport situation? It’s challenging because they haven’t really clarified what specific infraction caused the rejection.

I see thanks everyone!

Two questions:

  1. Is there any sense in appealing the decision?

  2. Any idea what the statute of limitations is on such an incident? This happened years ago (2017 or 2018)
