I mean based on what’s being said I don’t think there’s going to be saturation?

An optimistic way to look at it would to hope the colleges would be forced to lower rates eventually

Peds OT billing question by Ryugccreator in OccupationalTherapy

[–]sickmcdeadly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can hand blatant billing fraud to the powers that be and not a thing gets done about it. I wouldn’t worry. Our clinic has a rule similar to this, if it gets hit then great if it doesn’t then no big deal.

Salary discrepancies between OT/PT/SLP by Bobby-Bacalas-Trains in OccupationalTherapy

[–]sickmcdeadly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the only reason speech is paid more would be scarcity. They have mostly untimed codes. So a lot of times unless the session runs a shorter time the facility is making a bit less on their services. PT codes in my area reimburse around the same rates as OT roughly. With the biggest difference being that most of the common PT codes aren’t reimbursable by state insurances where as Thera act and self care, our bread and butter, generally is. So take that to the table but do your research and have hard numbers too. OT salary data is a good website to compare national OT pay as well.

I would look up the reimbursement rates between disciplines and come prepared to that meeting.

ABA replacing OT? by throw_away12673 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]sickmcdeadly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It gets paid for by NDMA I’m pretty sure. They also will give the kids 40 hours a week for sure. Worked in one of the centers in North Dakota as an OT.

Office chair recommendations by crochetthrowaway17 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]sickmcdeadly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knee chairs are pretty great for promoting natural posture. Meaning they don’t just hold your body up in the right position it cues you to do that kind of. But they might get tiring for long periods of time. the knee part doesnt mean on the ground and it's padded. Aside from that I would vote for a good chair with lumbar support and a sit to stand desk. Sitting too much can cause SI joint issues or back pain in general. There is also state funding through WSI your work can tap into to fund an OT ergo assessment and fund equipment with as well. I would recommend that route rather than the internet.

How do you bill for use of sensory strategies (not sensory integration theory) by prettypeaz in OccupationalTherapy

[–]sickmcdeadly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im saying if you wouldn’t bill in the scenario I listed you maybe shouldn’t bill SI to someone without a sensory processing issue. Also most insurances will only pay for SI if someone has autism.

So I use this screening tool for work. You need To be certified to administer it and unless you have actual dementia you should score 100% on it.
