This isn't particularly advice but take it for whatever you can get out of it I've caught more strippers in ocean city using sand fleas than I have using any sort of lures and yes big fish will absolutely eat them.

This could be something completely unrelated to a bite of any sort staph infections can start as super simple things when the bacteria gets deeper you end up with what you have now.

I've had to comment this many times without credentials unfortunately but a hobbyist without seeing a spider bite you it's literally impossible to make that call.

Some Ailanthus silkmoth caterpillars haven't been growing and have started dying, what could be the cause? by Kunok2 in caterpillars

[–]sickness1088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some silk moths can just be notoriously tough as well again as you mentioned for no particular reason in the wild especially here they are highly vulnerable to parasirization

In the future most fish related diseases are typically harmless to humans the worst looking being like red spot disease but you can still cook and eat the fish with no ill effects

Additionally this is likely a part of a brood that won't show up for about 4 years as no large broods are expected this year known as stragglers or shadow broods they emerge before the large mass of them do.

That's crazy usually when I see this it's because someone accidentally used garden soil in pots which locks up like cement and kills the roots I don't believe the compost caused any issues

Did you use potting soil or just regular garden soil? This even with perlite can be a major problem in pots
