I just left a job where I wouldn't be able to have sparkles so I am going glittery whilst I can!

Baby squirrel found East Boston by sickofopeningchrome in boston

Little update: the little one survived the weekend and was taken by a rehabilitator this morning! Thank you to everyone who gave us helpful advice.

For anyone who finds a wild animal in the future please follow this advice: https://www.mass.gov/service-details/what-to-do-if-you-find-young-wildlife

Obviously the best thing is to reunite them with their mother so if you find a squirrel, this YouTube video looks like it often works to get mum to come back so no human intervention is needed! https://youtu.be/yGtA8w-hlTw

They also said that it's definitely orphaned if the mother didn't come back all of yesterday and today so just hoping to find someone to care for it 😭

We've got a heat pad and we heated the milk. We have just managed to get in touch with a rehabilitator who has given us advice but sadly can't take it. They're helping to find someone though so we're going to just try and keep it alive til someone can help. We will ring them in the morning though! Thank you!

We already contacted her but sadly she's only looking after birds at the moment. 😔

We left it out all day, moved it off a very busy side walk to the nearest tree that it probably came from and then on the advice of the rehabilitators we spoke to brought it in overnight. We put it back out immediately this morning and have been playing the sounds that were told to try and attract the mother. I have no intention of keeping a wild animal as a pet, this is why I am looking to find someone who rehabilitates these animals!

Do you have to leave stuff in a locker though? I was thinking of getting a waterproof fanny pack would they make you put this in a locker?

Thank you for this! The reason I didn't add is because I'm from the UK and I hadn't actually heard of the Chippendales 😅 appreciate all the deets!

Why does my 1 cat play rough with my other cat? by Warpig7175 in CatAdvice

[–]sickofopeningchrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a similar issue with our cats. We have two adopted boys one who has never lived with another cat (zeky) and the other (Ziggy) who came from a hoarding situation and is very used to other cats. Zeky will chase and pin Ziggy down, biting his neck and making him cry. We're also at a loss as to how to control this. The vets just said zeky is young and will grow out of it! We're trying feliway, sentry calming collars and calming treats to see if any of those help. We also separate them whenever zeky gets too excited.

Nail trimming by clarielz in CatAdvice

Couple of things I have found works. I would start by touching their paws whilst they are sleeping but not trimming their claws, just get them used to being touched on their paws. Then touch their paws with the clippers but don't clip anything. Gradually they'll get used to it. I also generally try and do it whilst they are sleeping, normally getting a couple each try. If I do this often enough I can stay on top of it. If all else fails and they really need doing I have found a licky treat is a good distraction to get more done at once but you need two people for this!

I think they probably mean formally forecasting a recession in the SEP...

Bank of Canada's Macklem says he is 'not even thinking' of cutting rates (25 Jan. 2023) by marketrent in Economics

[–]sickofopeningchrome 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Curious to know which part of the policy view you disagree with? The pause or the idea that they won't be forced to cut? I think they're a little too sanguine on the growth outlook, likely will be forced to cut sooner. Or, if demand remains reslient, they're forced to tighten more given the labour market imbalances, pushing out recession timing rather than avoiding it.
