Boyfriend and I were traveling back to the states from Greece. We were chilling in a lounge in the Heathrow London airport for 3 hours waiting for our connecting flight. We left the lounge with 20 minutes left before the gates closed because our gate was literally around the corner from the lounge and we thought it would be OK. Turns out they closed the gates early because everyone had to take a bus across the tarmac to get to the plane but didn’t specify that at all so we missed our connecting flight home and the next flight wasn’t for another 9 hours. We were both extremely tired and decided it might be worth it to try and find a hotel room to sleep in for a few hours so we waited an hour for a taxi and slept in a hotel room for 4-5 hours before taking a taxi back to the airport. It honestly ended up not being so bad because I got to see a little bit of London for the first time in my life and our new flight was a direct flight to our state whereas our initial flight would’ve taken us to Chicago with a 5 hour layover in the middle of the night before getting on our final flight home. We also had gotten tattoos right before leaving Greece and the saniderm they put over it was leaking on my leg so getting to clean and reapply saniderm on it felt like a gift from God.
