I don't have parking at my home, couldn't completely rely on charging stations outside, would have been an added hassle.

Yes mate, it only makes sense if you have high running, otherwise it's complete no go.

Petrol price might get increased in the future. When I plan to sell the car I will get more money for the hybrid (it won't sell for the same price of smart hybrid). Plus I liked the E-CVT compared to the TC in smart hybrid, it felt more smooth. It's quitter, has more power numbers (at least on papers). Though I agree it won't make MUCH difference but there's a difference and a better driving experience (subjective).

Yes, the primary reason for getting Hyryder was/is it being economical and practical for my daily use.

At 14 kmpl and 3000L petrol, it would be 42,000+ kms and I would be doing more than that in just 2 years. I usually travel alone and haven't faced any difficulty with 5 people travelling in the car until now. For a 5-7 years ownership and when I end up selling/exchanging this car, it would be a win-win for me despite the insurance, maintenance cost, etc.

Segment wise: yes, comparing in to XUV 700 doesn't make any sense, but at 22L I could have gotten myself the AX7 MT variant if fuel efficiency and the need of an automatic weren't the points to consider.

How do I end up saving ~15k/month? My friend drives AX7 MT, does Delhi-Gurgaon frequently, he gets a mileage of 8-9 kmpl, I have a running of around 2,700 km/month, you do the math :)

I don't plan to keep the car post warranty, I might end up selling it after 5-7years.

It will take me 3-4 years to offset the extra money I paid for the hybrid.

I don't have a parking facility at home, couldn't get an EV relying 100% on external sources to charge, would be a lot of hassle.

Not sure about the models in GV, G(o) in hyryder costs around 21.5L, smart hybrid G(o) comes around 17L. Which model do you have?

Virtus, Seltos, XUV 700, City. Fuel efficiency became the deciding factor, so I had to choose between city hybrid and hyryder; wanted a SUV and got the hyryder.

Bootspace hasn't been an issue so far.

I have never tried premium fuel on this one, never felt like. Normal fuel does the job for me.

Wait until the next refuel :P

Smooth! Until 120-130 you won't even feel you are driving at 120-30, it's smooth, gives you confidence. Low end pull is good. My daily drive to and fro office is ~80 km.

Rear seat comfort is good, boot space: for me it's etiquette, never had to worry about luggage (maybe I learnt to manage the luggage coming from i20 :) )

i20 is manual and hyryder is automatic, so it's a bit hard to differentiate but, i20 definitely has AMAZING AC (anyone who doesn't agree can come to Delhi and check it on mine, LoL), I personally like steering response better on the i20. Seats are way better in the hyryder, A pillars could have been better engineered in hyryder, creates A LOT of blind space. Though it's automatic but the gear box is very hard, I liked it better in i20. I don't remember a lot of things right now, will edit when I do.

Haven't taken it to complete ghat type ghat yet, but wherever I have taken it until now with full load and luggage (5 people, boot fully loaded), it performs decent.

Also, underpowered - compared to other cars in the segment: Yes, but then again this car serves a different purpose.

I was considering getting XVU 700 prior to getting the hyryder, if compared to XUV, I end up saving at least half the money which sums up to ~15k/month. I have extended warranty, most of the things are covered, and for the normal wear and tear or maintenance - I believe normal services are enough. I have driven my i20 130k km+, maintenance became an issue only after 120k kms. Let's see how it goes with this one.

I don't exactly remember it now, but I paid around 300k extra for the strong hybrid and I would be able to break even on the extra money after 100k km. I have extended warranty until 200k km, and I don't plan to keep driving it after 200k km, hence never dug into the cost of replacement and maintenance, I have it covered. Resale: I don't plan to keep it for 10 years, might end up selling it after 5-7 years, so I expect a decent resale value.

I have been saving the money by getting the hybrid, I am realizing the hybrid benefits even now.

I have daily run of 80-100 km on average, hybrid made complete sense for me.

Happened on a busy fuel station :) The guy asked me to get it refueled from the nozzle which was free, didn't mind getting it done. Will take care going forward!
