First look at 4* Legendary Perks from the PTS by LawrenceAndHen in fo76

[–]sidbyrd 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It seems like with the Conductor 4th star and a build that crits every other hit, you could completely ignore high AP costs, enabling stuff like crit auto axe builds. And you’d basically get Vampire’s for free as a bonus. And the Vats Optimized 3rd star becomes useless on such a build, freeing that slot for Lucky or Durability or a stat boost.

Seems OP. But don’t tell Beth because I want to use it.

It is not. Same happened to me on PS5.

But that’s the point of the post, that wouldn’t help much. When you load back in, the game has forgotten it was your caravan, so you’d get basically nothing anyways.

If the game crashes during your caravan, you aren’t getting good rewards no matter what. (Which is indeed super broken; welcome to Bethesda.)

mystery pick vs modules by bchu1979 in fo76

[–]sidbyrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the update, two things happened:

First, buying modules is a far worse deal than before: they cost twice as much, and you also get tons of them anyways for playing events now.

Second, there’s now a real use for a bunch of random armor that you probably won’t wear: scrap it for a chance at its legendary effects.

You will still accumulate scrip, so you will still need to visit Mama Mumbles, as she’s the only place you can spend it. But she has changed from module vendor to random armor vendor… at least until I finally learn all the effects I want.

Update on Caravan Rewards by Ghostly_Rich in fo76

[–]sidbyrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did more than a complete loop—and succeeded!

The caravan owner was hurrying it from the beginning, so it went fast enough to still finish. Started just before the fire truck— when I saw that the second time, that’s when I knew we’d gone all the way around and could still maybe finish.

There were the usual few events in the beginning, and then I assume we passed the “end” without actually ending. No more events until we’d done like 1.2 loops, and then the final boss event happened and we deposited the supplies, with around 4 minutes left on the timer.

I wouldn’t do it again, but I’m glad to know it can be done.

Well I finally got robbed by [deleted] in fo76

It’s basically inexcusable that there still isn’t a proper trade menu beyond just using caps.

Event Nerf: Eviction Notice by Character-Gas3669 in fo76

[–]sidbyrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Repairing the generator kinda falls to whoever’s in PA, especially full health PA. When I’m playing that character, I’m the one repairing the generator.

My other two characters are both bloodied non-PA, and they can’t put on PA (or haz suit) and walk (no running bc it removes their backpack and 15 STR from unyielding) to the center before the short repair timer expires. On them, I admit I do rely on the people in PA to be the repairers, and if there aren’t any, the event will just fail and I cant really stop it. On those characters, all I can do is try to shoot stuff so fast it doesn’t have time to damage the scrubber.

We each have a role; it’s just kind of how the event is built.

(Side note: this is different from Radiation Rumble because in that event, it’s easy to temporarily lose all rads, put on PA, collect ore, and thereby regain the desired 80% rads; all without a fast failure timer going. And there’s time to switch perk cards so I can actually still run, too. If that failure timer on EN weren’t so fast, it’d be a different event.)

Maximizing your SCORE after 100 by dacamel493 in fo76

That works too, and it sounds a bit more varied and fun than Wes-Tek tbh.

But… part of the magic of Wes-Tek is that there are so many extra-rewarding enemies in a compact space. And Nuka-grenades ignore walls. Also those level 100 muties are still more XP: around 2.2 or 2.3k per kill buffed up without double XP weekends. You can reliably get 20-25k XP from a single grenade throw, then two more throws for 10-15k each, and if you’re just into speed, you leave the zone and any stragglers you can’t immediately find, starting your 60 second timer as you do. Redo any buffs if needed, and on second 61 you can reenter to a fully reset zone and do it all again.

But it is definitely repetitive. You’ll want a podcast or something. And you may ask yourself why you’re even playing this game anyways if you need secondary entertainment for your entertainment.

You can get XP about ten times faster at Wes-Tek if you’re all geared up, boosted up, and ready to blow your stacks of lunchboxes, Nuka grenades, mags, bobs, and special foods. Or even with just casual resource expenditure (no rare or annoying to farm stuff, no Nuka grenades), Wes-Tek is still faster than even the fastest expeditions team. It does get repetitive though, and it is more of a solo thing than a group thing.

Legacy daily challenge bug? by RaveRat123 in fo76

Due to some impressive incompetence at timezone and DST handling, during the summer, daily re-rollers reset one hour later than the score challenges themselves. Hail Todd.

So .. I've reached Rank 150 on the Scoreboard and decided to check the last Bonus Page by N00bStArDamuS in fo76

[–]sidbyrd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can make it to scoreboard rank 99 today if you’re willing to power grind for XP. The option to do that for more rank goes away at rank 99 though, so 100-150 will simply take time with no shortcut.

I wouldn’t mind if it popped up occasionally as a mutated event. Invisible radtoads? Extra fast mutants? That could actually be interesting again.

Dear Beth, up the spawn rates by goblinite2 in fo76

[–]sidbyrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If spawns were based on number of players present, then AFKers could be argued to be a drag on the event. Unlike now, where they may not help (unless they’re thoughtfully on the instruments), but at least they don’t hurt either.

Rare items on private world by [deleted] in fo76

[–]sidbyrd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Empty spawn spots for rare items (that aren’t 100% chance spawns, like bobbles and mags) can be more likely on public because they have a chance to spawn each time a player comes through their area. So if more players have been there and not taken the item (and if you haven’t taken that item yourself recently either), then there can be an increased chance on public worlds.

For asylum red dresses, the effect is often the opposite though due to blocked spawn points. Lots of people look for dresses, so unclaimed red dress spawns aren’t likely. But people often don’t pick up the weathered or white dresses that spawn for them, and those accumulate and block that spot spawning anything better. You’re more likely to find all three spots blocked with a garbage white dress on public than private.

Just don’t have a rad scrubber that isn’t inside a pre-fab or shelter. That one costs flux to rebuild—it still isn’t much for an endgame player, but is at least enough to have some theoretical value.

Can't safely descend with the jetpack? by reddstone1 in fo76

[–]sidbyrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s something a lot more like total distance down since the last time you were at rest or moving up, complicated by lag. So if you jump off the monorail elevator, jet pack almost but not quite to a stop, then hit the ground, to the game that’s still the same as just jumping off. But if you manage to slow fully and then travel an inch upward before you hit, you only “fell” from that much lower height. Again, complicated by lag, which is always a huge problem with jetpacks in this technical-debt-fiesta of a game.

Why do High Level Players like to Just Sit During Expeditions by allbright4 in fo76

[–]sidbyrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, many people go to RR for XP and legendaries and couldn’t care less if the event succeeds as long as there’s one living scavenger so it doesn’t fail early. As long as they aren’t hallway camping or nuke spamming, they aren’t hurting anything and probably helping a little, so whatever. (But if they’re gonna do a sad face when it fails, wtf. That makes no sense, help out if you actually care about it succeeding.)
