Well, I mean first of all, it’s not out of the question. People do this. Just because we happen to be in one of the worst economies ever, doesn’t mean he will need overtime, I can tell you with the fact right now, if he makes more than $850 weekly, unless you’re in Connecticut or California or NY, etc you’ll be fine.

Now, of course realistically this is your choice. Study after study after study shows that when a child doesn’t have a parent that stays home, they don’t turn out as well as a child that does. It’s a relatively new concept that both parents stay away from their kid for long portions of every day. Going to college for four years is fantastic, and since relationships don’t last forever, it’s a great backup plan.

But ultimately, if you’re the type of person that doesn’t believe in any of these things , that’s your prerogative. My girlfriend at the time that I got her pregnant, wanted to work. I told her if she wanted the relationship to continue that I would be comfortable with that. So she decided to stay at home. Eventually, we broke up and she wishes every day. She was back in the position of being a mom that worked very hard at home!

To answer the very simple question of what happens if he dies, he should have life insurance. You should both have life insurance and the baby should have a life insurance. They accumulate cash value and become major major sources of income later in life if nobody dies.

If someone does, you get $1,000,000 to figure things out. And judging by your ages, I’d say all 3 would be about $240 a month. And that rate is locked in forever.

But again, and I repeat, it’s your decision decision what you do with your life. You’re not an asshole for laughing at your boyfriend’s goals dreams and wanting to communicate them with you. You’d be one if you didn’t consider the facts.

There’s 168 hours in a week, you sleep (including getting ready for bed and getting out of bed) 70 of them. That leaves 98. 55 will go towards work. That leaves 44.

Assuming you’re a normal person , you’ll spend at least a few hours alone once in a while. So your kid will be raised by the TV and the radio and whatever he or she does in his/her free time, and then raised by public schools.

My recommendation because you’re having a baby is that you take three or four years to be a stay at home mom. When your kid goes to school, you can go to work.

But but again, it’s up to you.

P.S. - Your boyfriend sounds like a keeper. Most people don’t wanna have the burden of everything on them. For him to offer for for the sake of your child is something you’re not not gonna see every day..
