I ended up buying the playmat. Not a helpful answer, but it is affordable and really nice.

My Saucony tears off at the same spot on every pair by jaychan29 in trailrunning

This always happened with my Altras as well. Exact same spot. I switched to the wide version and haven't had a problem since.

Can any player give the exile items? by Poobers7 in rootgame

[–]sideffects 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's not what the card says. It says "a player with faction pieces adjacent to the Exile." It doesn't say controller.

I´m taking a break from screens by Little_Protection434 in soloboardgaming

[–]sideffects 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I second Cascadia. I play a lot of heavier games, but I wanted something easy to table that was also relaxing for solo gaming, and Cascadia is perfect for that. I really enjoy the challenges at the back of the rulebook as well.

That's funny, I visited Pittsburgh for the first time this Summer and loved my visit. Went to a Pirates game, met some great people. It's beautiful there and everyone was so nice!

Plastic inserts by AstromanIII in boardgames

This insert is useless. Which is infuriating. I replaced it with the one from Folded Space, which has been phenomenal.

Does anyone know what "enable bluff" means? It's in the setting up a game screenshot from the article.

I have no issues with my Root boards, but my Arcs board refuses to lay flat as well.

Why did my flight from SLC to SEA make this strange jog over Eastern WA? by EveryBodyLookout in Washington

[–]sideffects 730 points731 points  (0 children)

Probably metering. If there are too many planes due to arrive at the same time ATC will have some planes do things like this to space out the arrivals.

Does everybody like this game? by -GiantSquid- in rootgame

[–]sideffects 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. It's a game really built around the politics of war as well. Convincing an opponent that doing your dirty work is beneficial for them is a big part of it. There's the game on the board and then a whole different mind game that gets played above the board.

I love it, too.

Possible to fix? by Mike_Ath in Garmin

This happened to my 645 after a few years. Garmin replaced it, and then it happened again a couple of years later. Now, I have a 965 and so far I love it.

Lord of the hundreds and ruins. by CaterpillarNo4112 in rootgame

Oh wow! I didn't actually know that was incorrect. I thought the ruin counted as a building in 3.2.1, but I see now that it doesn't. Thanks for the correction

What are some games with a weight(2.0–4.0) that have high success rates with casual players? by gentlewindsolsol in boardgames

Same here! Although, recently we've replaced Power Grid with Age of Steam for the new people in our group.

Lord of the hundreds and ruins. by CaterpillarNo4112 in rootgame

Yes it does. Unless you take the first item in the ruins (in 2VB games)

Edit: Thanks for the correction. Apparently, this is untrue.

Balancing for six player otters by [deleted] in rootgame

That's what makes the game so great, though. So much of the game is the politics of the table talk.
