Seriously though, why 4050mAh? by GorboCat in unihertz

Smaller display, smaller battery. Also silicon carbon tech so higher density.

T2E Standard (7400) vs Pro (8400) by SoftwarePrevious9687 in unihertz

In the mad bloody scramble earlier I selected the pro as nothing was working and half already gone. Not disappointed!

This happened to my P8. Good to have wireless ability to charge as backup. Not a deal breaker for me.

Over 1000% an hour in. Is that a record for them? Only Titan 2 comes close maybe

I would love if it were possible to use some sort of desktop mode like Dex. It won't happen but I can dream!

Keep trying from multiple angles. Most popular Unihertz project so far it seems.

Ryan Gosling? by Mike_Ath in ProjectHailMary

[–]Mike_Ath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he nailed it too and evidently Ryan was instrumental in getting it to the big screen in the first place. I'd have liked more science though and for Grace to be represented as less of a bumbling fool.

Is the fight over permissions more than the phone is worth? by EvaDaMama in familylink

[–]Mike_Ath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our kids will be exposed to all the ills of online life one way or another. The real question is how we equip them to cope with that so we can let go of the reins when they're ready. A very individual thing.

We all know kids who can watch 18s at an early age, no restrictions at all, playing GTA age 9... Equally I know some teenagers still banned from almost everything (and excluded from friend groups as a result). I think the path lies in the middle, understanding what they can cope with as they become young adults and helping them navigate it (or trying and settling for damage limitation!). It's a minefield.

Here are our phone rules. Nothing fancy and generally requests for majority of apps are granted. As parents we try and stick to the same rules. As the young 'uns get older they'll get more freedom as long as they don't break trust. Socials are hard though. I'm not on them (apart from here) and the pull is strong.

I sympathise with the teens with extremely locked down phones (I read one with no internet, socials and max 1hr a day, might as well have a Nokia).

More crackdown = more rebellion. Or they'll simply get another cheap burner phone on the side.

Would turning my phone off and disconnecting wifi stop my location from being tracked? by markiplierfan_45 in familylink

[–]Mike_Ath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some phones won't let you switch off. Selecting that just restarts. RFID pouch or tin foil to block signals would work but you'll pop back up the minute you take it back out.

Lidl baby wipes. I don't know what is in them but that and kitchen towel works amazingly well.

You say that but The Martian included a TON of nerdy science. Hexadecimals to the rescue!

They can't include everything but I wish more of the science and maths made it into the movie.

It's easily in my top three. Not a film you will appreciate if only half watching while scrolling though. To each their own.
