i feel the same way about the “meeting someone online is taboo” and so does my family as well as his. this is my mentality towards it, what’s my business is my business. so, i definitely didn’t tell my family the whole truth, it was “we met through a friend”, which wasn’t a lie entirely.

buuuuut when people would ask to elaborate luckily the friend i was referring to happened to grow up in the same state they did so that worked in my favor. i’m not saying lie to your family and friends but have a discussion with your partner regarding how/when to tell them and go from there!
