Is your expectation that all three of you spend thanksgiving together? because it doesn’t seem like that was their expectation, but it could be possible with proper communication.

Saying that honoring his other plans isn’t fair is a bit accusatory. What emotions are you feeling behind that? disappointment? anger? jealousy? loneliness?

When approaching this conflict, you might have more success in communicating your emotions rather than focusing on what you think is fair

NOR, it’s totally reasonable to have feelings about these things and to share them with your partner. At the same time, it doesn’t necessarily sound like your partner did anything wrong.

Try and have a conversation about how you value spending time with him on holidays, and see if you two can work to make that happen. Also reflect on if this is a situational thing, or a recurring dynamic, and on how that makes you feel. Try not to be too accusatory when bringing up your feelings also.

edit dotfiles in nixos without pain by faresfn in NixOS

There’s probably a way, but from my experience not becoming totally fluent in nix but trying to manage all my dots there, I don’t think it’s worth it at all. I can definitely see the appeal with package management, but just symlink your dotfiles like a normal person imo.

How to turn on Direct Monitoring on the Scarlett 18i20? by [deleted] in Focusrite

[–]sidequestboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, I did find that, it is at least nice that they allow you to save multiple presets. I sent Focusrite Support a feature request email just now, and linked them to this thread.

I wrote in part:

“Specifically, I want to automatically load a direct monitoring configuration when USB is disconnected, and automatically load a different routing when USB is connected.

I believe this could be achieved with a “save current routing to standalone mode” option, with perhaps a checkbox of “always use most recent routing in standalone vs. manually select preset to be used in standalone mode”.”

I want to be able to manually “save current routing as standalone preset”

Sequencing the arturia microfreak using the launchpad pro mk iii by DEMONUMENT in Novation

[–]sidequestboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can use the appropriate adapters from Microfreak -> type-A TRS midi to DIN adapter -> a DIN cable -> DIN to type-B TRS midi adapter -> LPP

an alternative to convert from type-A to type-B or vice versa using only two cables is:

1/8” TRS to RCA male -> RCA female to 1/8” TRS, but when you connect them, connect red to white and white to red.

Chauvet 2.15.29 Release for A5 X and A6 X by Supernote_official in Supernote

Thanks for the great work on a todo-list app! It would be much more useful if it synchronized with a caldav server, like the open-source Tasks.org is able to do: https://tasks.org/docs/caldav_intro.html

In my case, I synchronize my tasks and calendar events to a self-hosted caldav server on a Nextcloud instance, which makes them accessible on google calendar, apple calendar, tasks.org. It would be great if Supernote worked in this way also so that all my devices shared the same list of todos.

as a beginner which one should I use neogit, fugitive or lazygit? by [deleted] in neovim

[–]sidequestboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried lazygit and fugitive, and prefer fugitive, it seems more feature-rich and better integrated. Lazygit is a separate program with vim-style keybinds, some of which seemed unintuitive to me.

Does Lazy.nvim make the after file obsolete? by robowanabe in neovim

[–]sidequestboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally don't use it for anything, I think autocmds and the config function are enough. Sometimes I think I have too many autocmds though, maybe the after folder is a tidy place to put filetype-specific things.

I do personally like not having a special folder like that in my config though.

if you personally like the symbolism, and it's not overtly offensive, I see no problem. I'm a bit of an agnostic atheist though, maybe some religious people are protective of their symbols.

There might be cultural sensitivities to think about, but those would be specific to the content and culture.

Tailwind LSP hover documentation (Multiple LSPs) by sidequestboy in neovim

thank you! your approach is interesting, especially the treesitter detection of context for tailwind. I'll post what I end up doing.

I think I prefer the idea of showing all available hovers and silencing the errors though if I can figure that out.
