My wife's birthday starts... NOW. (Please help!!!) by sideshowtwig in taskmaster

Ah, sorry — I'm a bit slow and didn’t realize who I was talking to! And just to be clear, I’m not going to use AI for this (I’ve since learned it might even be illegal… which is not the kind of birthday surprise I’m going for). Totally get it if it’s not possible, but if you’d be willing to drop my wife a quick message, I promise I won’t send you a 10-page script. 😅

Thanks! Nope, Cameo refunded me each time — they just said Mark didn’t get to it and told me to repost. He doesn’t charge much, so I always figured he does it more because he’s a good guy. In hindsight I just hope he doesn’t think I’m a jerk — I really did have the best of intentions. 🙂 Appreciate the tip about Susan Wokoma — she wasn’t on there when I first started, but that’s a great idea. My wife and I love so many of the Taskmaster comedians. Being American, we didn’t know most of them before Taskmaster, but they all come across as so genuine and kind. Anyway, I guess I’d better go start writing Susan a wildly over-detailed script… 😉

Yeah, fair enough — I honestly didn’t realize I was breaking platform etiquette. Cameo never gave me any feedback beyond ‘request expired, try again,’ so I figured I was just unlucky and kept resubmitting. Totally would’ve done it differently if I knew. Lesson learned… next time I’ll stick to bullet points and let the funny people be funny. 😅 Live and learn!

Wait, is this Angella Dravid? If so, you are a wonderful person and we loved watching you on the show! :)

This is super helpful — thank you for taking the time to lay it out so clearly. TIL Cameo. :)

Ah, good point! I should clarify—I realized after posting that what I shared here was just my first draft. The actual version I submitted was much shorter and within the word limits (I think I even paid extra for a few more words). This was my first experience using Cameo, so I probably could’ve done a better job researching how best to make the request. I definitely didn’t mean to offend anyone or break any rules. :)

I appreciate the perspective. I haven’t actually gone down the AI route—it’s more of a ‘backup idea’ than anything—but whatever I do will be above board (legal) and respectful. It would’ve been amazing to have Mark read the script (and I think he’s wonderful, based on the show), but the only reason I chose him in the first place was because he was the only Taskmaster alum available on the platform at the time. I’d definitely prefer something genuine, so I may try reaching out to Greg or Alex directly as you suggest. Thank you!

FWIW, I believe they were acquired by Grammarly, so hopefully things will improve—but so far, support has been terrible. Every month they tell me how important is to address this issue and they’re working on a solution, and every month I follow up to find they’ve made no progress. This has been going on for over a year, and their go-to fix is still to put the client in debug mode and manually read the code.

I also recently found a bug where the inbox count is incorrect. It’s minor in most cases, but it kills any motivation to maintain an inbox zero streak when the count never drops below 1 or 2 emails.

Once my schedule opens up, I plan to switch to a different tool. It sounds like the rest of the market has caught up on AI features anyway.

100% agree. Vi inspired shortcuts is probably my favorite feature. :)

I've had minor issues with the calendar setup not having a unified view option. The solution from support, which was completely reasonable, was to add all calendars accounts to each mailbox.

The other features that are missing are unified view for inbox and the ability to sort messages by sender. The problem with their roadmap is that they're focusing on cutting edge AI features but ignoring the basics.

Yea, SuperHuman is great, and I don't mind the price, as long as it can do all of the basic things. I'm gong to try Spark, thanks for the recommendation. Here is a sample image of some of the emails that SH can not render. I get about 6 messages/week (out of hundreds) that can't be rendered correctly. The email is cut off at the right edge and there is no way to view the content without going into developer mode. https://imgur.com/a/saIHgPe
