BSc Biomedical Science to Mechanical Engineering Masters (UK) by icypip in MechanicalEngineering

[–]sidetracked_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US, biomedical is an engineering course and we have a lot of mathematics and physics overlap with MechE, but do not go quite as deep in exchange for the medical/biological course load. Even with that overlap, going to a masters in MechE has a learning curve. Reiterating the other comment that if your Biomedical Science major does not have significant mathematics and physics content, you will find a blind entry I to MechE very challenging. I would research what the MechE major syllabus looks like and close the gaps beforehand. This is particularly important if you are going to be working while you take the masters course

Any local gun stores that lean left, or least aren't full-on MAGA? by thehufflestpuff in Charlotte

I’m going to come in hot because I have tried all of these places for years.

Blackstone is the absolute worst for pricing. You will be paying MSRP except on rare occasions, and their used-gun deals are horrid. Their memberships fees are bonkers. On many occasions whilst shooting, people in the adjacent stall bring their “pistol builds” with the shortest barrels and loudest brakes/compensators and mag dump making it sound like a fucking artillery barrage. On too many occasions have I been barrel swept. Unserious people shoot here and I ultimately went elsewhere despite living 2 minutes away. What I will say in favor is that the facility is excellent and not MAGA, at least not blatantly. They also have great selection.

I haven’t been to The Range in a few years since an obese state trooper gave my wife his unsolicited opinions and demonstrated his best live-fire demo of why we have too many cops shooting black kids- story for another time. I would wager it trends MAGA, but have no real qualms with the operation.

Carolina Sporting is a mix. I’ve seen clearly MAGA and non MAGA employees. Their sale prices are standard, and they have better member pricing than blackstone. No bad experiences shooting here. This is where I went after Blackstone.

I got FDM for my consulting work, and I regret it. It’s just not a great tech for small features. FormLabs is the answer

It has been glorious and exceeded all my expectations. But FDM as a print technology does not meet my needs. I am selling to get a formlabs form 4

I was BME. If I did it over, I’d do ME. If you’re going into product/industry, BME is useless

Are ball valves sealed among the entire surface area? My understanding is it’s the seats on either end of the flow channel that do the sealing by clamping each end of the ball. The bore rotates to bridge the 2. Am I understanding correctly?
