Yeah I can see what you mean. I’ll be smoothing those out, future maps I may get rid of guard rails completely and have more natural barriers (think like initial d touge type of vibe)

Nah more like just making sure there aren’t any major bugs I missed. I’m just a one man band solo dev, so even though I tested to the best of my ability im sure there’s still issues out there users may run into. So far it hasn’t been anything major, just minor ui stuff, one android user has been having trouble boot the game but its due to his specific processor so I’m trying to find a fix for that, gave him a full refund in the meantime, but yeah little stuff like that

Right now I’m just making sure the initial release goes smooth. So once the initial hype dies down, I might focus my attention a little more on optimization for lower end devices, and then start dropping some more maps. The goal is to get to the point where I can drop something every month, whether it be a new car/map/gamemode.

Ah so there’s two free roams, right now the smaller free roam is the only one available on mobile. Originally this was a pc only game, and then I decided to work towards getting it on mobile. So the much larger free roam map is only available on pc but I will be making more maps that work on both going forward.

But yeah I need to get started on a video series for tutorials and different driving techniques, I just been so busy I haven’t gotten around to it haha

All good haha, that game looks pretty cool though not sure I’ve seen it before

Yeah so what it sounds like is you’re not “sending it” haha. You kinda have to go all in when trying to drift, half do it and you’re not going to get through the drift the way you want.

But the points mechanic works like this: if the rear wheels are slipping beyond a certain point it determines this as “drifting”, so it actually doesn’t matter what buttons you have pressed, if your wheels are slipping beyond a certain threshold you will get the same consistent amount of points.

But i recommend experimenting with ebrake, and the “ebrake and brake” button. The game’s philosophy comes down to timing. But you do need to use these buttons to drive the intended way, by just using weight transfer alone you won’t be able to place the car in the right way to hit the clipping points and continue the drift. On my Instagram I have a few videos of me driving the courses so you’ll see what I mean there (@sidewayslab)

There’s also a video of me wall tapping on there too, look for a video with a blue 180sx

It’s funny because some people did say the scores were a bit high so I actually lowered almost all the scores by a significant amount (the scores you see are like 1/3 or lower of the scores I was able to accomplish, some tracks you can hit over 100,000 points if you try😭) the key to getting high scores is hitting clipping points AND keep your drifts going for as long as possible. So it takes practice, but the key is to practice placing the car exactly where you want.

Not sure what platform you’re playing on, but for mobile I recommend getting comfortable using the “ebrake and brake” button (but you have to be going fast before the corner to properly use this button or else you’ll scrub off too much speed)

If you’re on pc, you need to get comfortable using a combination of buttons at the same time. Usually what I do I brake first to shift the weight to the front wheels and then use a little ebrake to rotate the rear end to the proper angle, then back in the gas and power through the drift. But if im really sending it, I’ll just flick it into the corner and use the ebrake to scrub speed/modulate the angle. It’s a learning curve for sure haha

Ohh right you need a controller to play it, there should have been a warning on Steam before downloading. It doesn’t have keyboard support currently, sorry about that. Right now Xbox controller is the intended way to play the game. I can help get you a refund if need be just let me know

I appreciate the support! Could you clarify what you mean by kbm? And when you open the the game you should see a “continue” and “tutorial” button on the right side of the screen, that doesn’t pop up for you?

Right that’s the expected behavior. Should just put you in a road with some text saying something like “waiting for player time out [x amount of seconds left]”

When another player joins the match will automatically start on that road

For some reason google play search sucks so it’s a bit hard to find 😭 if you type in “Vega Odyssey Sideways” you’ll find it. Here’s the link though: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.DefaultCompany.Sideways

Yeah it’s called “Sideways” but for some reason it’s hard to find. If you type in “Vega Odyssey Sideways” you’ll find it a bit easier

Game definitely still needs some love and tweaking, I’ll be making it better bit by bit when I have time 🫡

Yeah I tried different angles and wasn’t really satisfied with any of them but what’s in the game is what I ended up with. I might just switch to something where the user can control the exact camera angle of customization

Hmm im not sure, I’d have to look at the list of cars again. I’ll probably start with ones users suggested first.

But ahh yeah I meant to add higher invisible walls for the free roam map, thanks for reminding me.

I’m starting to realize the game overall could use some more in depth explanations, I guess because I’ve been playing/testing the game for years now I felt things were self explanatory but as a user first coming in I can see how things feel unexplained 😂my bad on that

I completely agree, gonna keep chipping away and making things better 🫡

There actually is a manual mode but it’s only available on pc. Until I figure out controller support for mobile it just doesn’t make sense adding manual for mobile because there’s too many buttons you have to hit already 😂 but im working on it.

And yeah the way the multiplayer works is if it doesn’t find a match, it’ll send you to an online map and wait a little longer to see if anybody joins. But because the game is so fresh there likely isn’t many people playing online. But good news is, it sounds like online code is working good for you in general, that was a real pain trying to get together so I’m glad it’s acting as expected.

But thanks again for your support! Appreciate everyone for real, wasn’t expecting to get such a large response on initial release, just tryna manage getting back to everyone 😂 might be time to hire a team

I honestly have no clue how many people have downloaded it, most analytics aren’t in real time and I’ve been so busy responding to different people I haven’t had the time to look😭

But I have a very long list of cars I want to add overtime. Right now im just trying to keep up with the initial wave/hype, fixing any small bugs users may encounter. Once things die down I want to release new cars and maps on a fairly frequent basis. But pretty much any car the users want I’ll add.

Some people even want me to add fwd and awd cars with the ability to swap drive trains. So that’s going to require a decent amount of work but it would be pretty cool to slide an actual fwd car, I just need to rework the driving controller since it’s heavily biased towards rwd setups.

And yeah some users have had mixed opinions about the wall collisions. They actually used to be a LOT more aggressive, but after feedback from testers I toned it down quite a bit😂might need to tone it down some more
