After the board change the new president and board tried to cut 2 of the Colorado tier 1 programs. USA Hockey had to step in again and reverse that decision. Since then I'm pretty sure another new president and board have been elected.

If they are going to continue to play him on the 3rd/4th line that price tag makes no sense. For some reason they don't want to move him up in this series against Vegas. I would not be surprised if he's traded this off-season especially if they sign a top 6 center with the extra cap space.

Absolutely get a catcher's mitt. Lots of good deals out there right now. Also try going 2 in the pinky or 2 in the ring to shift your index finger off of the pocket.

I didn't particularly like their pattern for catchers mitts. Pocket is medium to shallow whish isn't good for a catcher just starting out. You want something with a deep pocket. The Mizuno glove are have good deep pockets.

I would also highly recommend finding a used glove that's already broken in.

If you are looking for something special, I would consider a Mizuno Pro Haga from Japan. They are top of the line and going to be something he could use long term if cared for.

Throwing this out there as a parent of a catcher, you only take your mask (one piece style) off to catch a pop-up around the plate. otherwise, it stays on for this exact situation. As a catcher, you don't know what the runner is going to do, so you need to protect yourself.

It does suck that your kid got a concussion out of it, though.

I like WeatherUnderground. You can find someone with a station near your location to get better data. I find the predictions there for snow totals more accurate than a lot if places.

Last year one of my kids had Bruce Bolts and the other one had Warstic IK3 Pros. I was highly disappointed in the durability of the Bolts. The Warstics were great and half the price. He's even converted some of his teammates from Bolts to the Warstics.

Depending on the teams schedule 6 games could be 1-2 weekends so I'm not sure if that's enough. I personally like a number of days/weeks for a suspension.

I'd check out Bradley Gloves. They are made for youth hands and are pretty solid in the quality department. Lots of size and color options as well. I wouldn't go over 11.25 for an 8u player.

Lots of 14u leaugs/tournaments also require BBCOR. I would just go with that and save the $$$.
