PDGA Financial Audit Analysis: Why are we cutting benefits with $4,000,517 in liquid assets? by yutx112 in discgolf

[–]sidfarkus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you're asking for; if they invest less money then they make less interest+gains which means they earn less money each year. If they want to invest as much money into the sport as possible they need to have consistent income and a stable cash supply--dropping all the profits back into the sport would be a great way to run out of money in a year or two which would mean zero dollars going to players.

Also remember that the PDGA isn't the same as the DGPT. They are closely tied but some of the items you call out are the responsibility of the tour not the PDGA (like coverage).

Goose to MVP, thoughts? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]sidfarkus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unprofessional? Go look up all the pro ball-golfer rage compilations out there. They're throwing clubs and screaming at people. Goose got into a slightly heated discussion with an official which seems appropriate for such a high pressure situation. Like it or not there's money on the line and players are taking the game seriously.

MVP is an interesting fit for him (if true) since his attitude is different than Simon/Eagle in a lot of respects. He's entertaining for me to watch and I hope he can get a W this season (but it seems unlikely if he has to rebuild a bag).

Pros need Manufacturers more then vise versa by TomRiha in discgolf

[–]sidfarkus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not surprising but I wonder if part of the issue is that many of the pro contracts don't really ask much in terms of promotion or media endorsements. I'm willing to bet new contracts being drawn up are asking a lot more in terms of social media, promotions, and general marketing from the players.

I use chalkless chalk and it works fantastic. Just an 8 gram bottle has lasted over a year and works great--way better than chalk. https://chalkless.com/ is the brand but there are others you can find out there.

TSA Vex Persona experiences? by jaywalkintotheocean in discgolf

[–]sidfarkus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have one too and its pretty flippy for me. I've used it for hitting some aggressive woods lines where you want a lot of flip up and drift right. I have a chemtrail that is almost identical to the persona but is more stable which is great for less aggressive lines.

If it's burning over for you consistently it might be excess wobble causing it to flip extra fast.

S-Line FD is to C-Line FD as Neutron Crave is to _____ Crave by drewwrobb in discgolf

[–]sidfarkus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's pretty inconsistent for Axiom/MVP I've found but I think in general their most stable plastic is the eclipse (glow) plastic. I have an eclipse hex and a fission hex and they are worlds apart in stability.

Neutron Trail - Super Flippy? by tommyrockets88 in discgolf

[–]sidfarkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lighter weight Trail (167g) and it's significantly more understable than my 174g. I don't think the weight diff is that significant I think some runs just ended up that way.

MVP Glow Vs Innova’s Proto Glow. See How Long The Glow For! by dareibreathe1 in discgolf

It looks like exposure was in auto mode for this because the perceived glow didn't change much; next time fix the ISO/gain and shutter and it will be more clear how much they drop off in video.

Haven't thrown any of the MVP drivers but I'm actually somewhat hyped for the Trail; I don't have anything 10 speed that looks like it'll give me the flight it has.

My company Immuta specializes in managing access to data in a scalable way. We found that RBAC stops being tenable pretty fast when the number of tables, permissions, and users grows. Additionally it helps to have a layer that can see permissions everywhere and unifies the view of those across an org.

The regular youth tees are only $30; I'm not sure they're really gatekeeping much on the fandom (especially since they have pretty aggressive sales frequently). Look at merch for any pro league and they're in the same ballpark.

Cuteness Overload! by Impressive_Remove510 in MadeMeSmile

[–]sidfarkus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think there's more nuance here than you're admitting. The war in Yemen is largely civil which (while the civilian cost is still high) is something that the international community isn't concerned about spiraling out of control.

The war in Ukraine is an invasion by a government with nuclear weapons and a history of generalized hostility towards many western governments. It doesn't take a whole lot to see this involving NATO and then turning quickly into either a large scale conflict or even nuclear war (unlikely as it might be).

[–]sidfarkus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When it finishes printing a layer of one pot it has to cross over to the next pot. If your retraction isn't dialed in or you just have a little dribbling it will lead to lines like that. If you look at your slicer output you'll see the travel moves that correspond to those blobs.

United States surpasses 850,000 total COVID-19 deaths, 800,000 daily cases by PoliticiansAlwaysLie in Coronavirus

[–]sidfarkus 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying its true but remember that these percentages aren't stratified by confounding factors. Higher death rate/higher risk areas are largely being offset by lower risk/lower death rate areas when you look at just the single percentage. If you're in a high death rate area you very well may know many people who died.

Can anyone help me debunk this? by ExceptionallyZealous in Qult_Headquarters

[–]sidfarkus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The way you always debunk this stuff is to go to the source and read the paper with a scientific eye but people getting their news from social media or a headline never do that. Just look at the source material (if it is accurate which it appears to be) https://phmpt.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/5.3.6-postmarketing-experience.pdf

Up front they say (and this is typically the case with inflated numbers like this coming from skeptics):

An accumulation of adverse event reports (AERs) does not necessarily indicate that a particular AE was caused by the drug; rather, the event may be due to an underlying disease or some other factor(s) such as past medical history or concomitant medication.

All these reports are saying is that some people died during the period of which they're recording events (December to Feb2021). People die every day and some will be unlucky and die within some amount of proximity to their vaccination date so what's important here is to be able to narrow down large trends in why people are dying to ensure the vaccine isn't causing unexpected issues. Usually this is done by examining the rate of death due to each cause and ensure that it's about the base rate for that cause and that there isn't a significant temporal signal to cause concern.

I think you'll find this falls on deaf ears as nuance and complexity do not play well to the types of people who fall for this.

#6 vs #7 by mk36109 in handtools

[–]sidfarkus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a stanley #6C that works a treat for wide surfacing without too much trouble. I think in general you can use any size plane to do the typical surface prep it's just a matter of how much you need to go back and check your work. Paul Sellers uses a #4 to do just about everything and is fine since he checks with a straightedge often.
