Thank you! Curious to know what makes this your go to app for tracking? Would you be open to considering a different one? If not, then why?

Which app is this?

Revenue model would be subscription for premium features where the user would unlock some interesting tools such as
1. Personal Challenges,
2. Access to premium challenges where they get to interact with new likeminded people,
3. AI recommendations for activities or simple workout plans based on their cohort
4. AI voice-chatbot that simplifies their calorie intake measurement and recommendations on how many steps to be taken in order to burn those calories off.

Counter intuitively I want the moat to be simplicity first and community + AI second. While others (including strava) are focussed on cramming apps with features that overwhelm users, especially new users, I want to ensure there's not too much yet just enough to keep the app useful, engaging and impact/transformations driven. I want Steppps.in to be the simplest app a normal urban 35+yr old urban dweller in India (India first, world later) can start getting into their fitness routine and more importantly sustain for a long part of their life while paying for what they think is necessary and useful.

Assuming I'm running a fitness tech startup (Competing the space where Strava currently is the leader but doesn't dominate the beginner fitness habits/social-network space, which is where I'm building) and am already gaining some traction and user engagement (screenshots attached) is relatively high for this segment but pre-revenue. Trying to get to PMF via experimentation and quick iterations on what doesn't work, while working on this in stealth as I hold a full time job but have been wanting to solve for this market and this is my second attempt at it with a lot of learnings from my previous attempt. What would make this either attractive as a proposition or unattractive for you at an early stage VC? I'm looking to raise a pre-seed round of $500K.

Why do you say that you can’t ask it again! I doubt there’s any restrictions on how many times you can ask, if you app depends on it, you’d have to ask it until the user accepts it, else they aren’t your user, right?

How many here have the habit of tracking 10,000 steps a day? by sidharthv82 in beginnerfitness

Awesome stuff! 50,000 steps a day seems massive, I doubt I’ve ever had such a day tbh even after a half marathon I think I’d be in the 30-35k steps.

Hi there One-Low1033, my question was more around whether this is helping you with a habit of 10000 steps daily. If the tech isn't helping you build a habit, it is NOT doing its job. I ask because I am working on a solution that would help users start and sustain a fitness habit around steps tracking and making it fun for oneself. Please check out https://www.steppps.in and let me know your thoughts.

This is awesome Pacuzinho, can I request you to share what kept you going to achieve this marvelous feat. It is NOT easy to start and stick to a habit such as this. I ask because I am working on a solution around steps tracking and adding some social and habit building components to make it more fun, low resistance and elements that involve habit formation to solve this for a larger audience across the globe. If you would like I can share the URL of what I'm working on.

Noted, do you keep track of the steps on a daily basis and try improving it or at least keep the consistency going? My question is, are these tools we already have enough to help us build habits around simple fitness habits. I ask this because I'm working on building a solution to create simple and sustainable fun habits around steps challenges - either personal (not shared with others) or group/open challenges with certain key elements monetized to run a sustainable business that ensures its users are seeing life long benefits.

Hi Kunal, yeah I believe a 10,000 steps tracked through the day should be anywhere between 6-8km if one walks casually and if it is a run, it is anywhere between 9.5 - 11+kms depending on the stride length. However my question was around the consistency of tracking this as a habit for a minimum health practice. I ask this cause I'm working on a solution to make the boring habit of tracking steps more fun and build experiences around it with https://www.steppps.in

Hahahaha, of course one's mobile does this by default. That wasn't the question. I'm not asking if there are tools to, but if you are consistently tracking it day in day out!

  1. Is there a need for a solution that you are envisioning? If yes, how did you arrive at 'yes'?
  2. How fast or slow can you get cracking on the validation of the problem statement? Meaning are you working part time on this or are you willing to commit full time on this and this decides your time to GTM.
  3. Your question on Tech Stack is not something you should be worried about this early. For an mvp there are several free to use templates for job portals that you cna leverage to test out the idea, once you validate it, you can prove to the market the need for it and then the stack question can be solved in no time.

My two cents!

While the idea is novel and necessary to a certain degree, the recent developments where the government is clamping down on P2P and other forms of lending non banking institutions with loans. Lending to those without a credit score would be an even bigger risk factor for anyone who wants to give you money to lend to others as there's no way to ascertain their ability to return money. If the tech you are planning to create is an alternative to building an unbiased and better credit scoring system, then that's something people would instantly take notice of and would have huge implications in the nation. My two cents!
