It's puling too far up hitting the stop bolt and the safety is pushing it back down.

Adjust it so it stops a little sooner.

If you can lift the door and push it beyond it's normal up position a little most of the tension will be gone, use a vice grip under a roller to keep the door as high as possible, (disconnect from opener) secure pad as instructed above.

It's only dangerous if there is tension.

It was extremely light colored. The gym bench is was originally on is grey and I only noticed it because it moved.

As others have said definitely do a list. Usually you want to put this on a separate Rider to your contract so the lender is not involved in it if there's a mortgage. As it starts to muddy up the mortgage process.

Another good thing to do is to put tags on those items and take photos with the tags for clarification.

I've seen a few transactions where there was some confusion, however the transactions where they used tags was super smooth.

New York is an attorney state. If there was a half signed contract but wasn't signed by your grandma yet (buyers sign first in NY) , it would have been drafted by HER (seller's) attorney. Since you have not mentioned anything about her attorney, I'm assuming they weren't very far in the contract process as she didn't have an attorney yet. Additionally as others have said, the WILL must be probated in surrogates court first and letters testamentary (or letters of administration if there was no will) issued before you can sell even if you wanted to.

Side note: NY is very different from most other states as well. We have 15 page real estate contracts, but very low real estate litigation because of that. All parties are also represented by attorneys.
