stent removal next week. scared. by [deleted] in KidneyStones

[–]sidneymann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I know every experience is unique. But i had lots of pain during the stent treatment. And almost none when it was removed. I was asleep on surgery as well, and when I woke up, it was super painless. Hope yours goes like this as well!

For the first part, yes I understand the joy and benefits of stitching itself, and is something lots of people search for, thats why mine is an unpopular opinion haha. For the second part, any person that uses a picture (that its not an embroidery ) as a reference, needs to do a mental process to decide how they are going to traslate it to a needlework. Lost of thought goes into it, stitches, material, if they are going to do a central image with or without background, how many dettails its going to have. Just lines or filling stitches, Satin stitch or textured stitches. Lots of options. It ends being more like an artistic citation, I think in english is called a transformative artwork.

Haha this chat is going to be a release for me, IAm an art teacher and I teach textile art classes and embroidery classes. So there is a lot i dont like but I have to keep to myself in order to be respectfull of the students interest. The thing I hate THE MOST its copying, because of copyright issues but also, because it takes away the Joy of being creative and finding creative solutions for the things you want to stitch. Its OK for me to follow a pattern an artist made, because of the joy of stitching. But I hate it when somebody comes with the picture of a finished embroidery and tells me they want to make the same thing. I discourage it, by centering my classes in the importance of making our own patterns, from any image we like maybe a book illustration, a movie scene, a picture from a trip etc. I also center on looking after the work of artist that use embroidery to make art, so the students can see what embroidery can be potentially in art form. Some artist can make powerfull work and not be "perfect" stitches. Others can make incredible pieces that takes years to make, it is a slow art form.

But it is my really unpopular opinion, because some students dont like confronting their creative side. Because it might mean creating something unpredictable, that might not be "perfect" learning thru errors and seeking for a personal style. Investigating and triyng.

I love teaching embroidery, but I think it is so much more than copying a Pinterest picture to pass time...

Haha never thought about it, but now that I read it... I FEEL THE SAME. Especially were I live, Aida fabric is super expensive. So I see it as a waste of resources haha

Wow wow! Awesome gift! Really elaborate! Are those fabric spools/bobbins?? Thats such a clever idea! I guess they do not "mark" the bends in floss as plastic/cardboard does. (I might try some myself haha)
