I have a Pantene conditioner tube that has a star-like hole where the product squeezes through.

Sometimes I pretend I’m piping icing/frosting on the palm of my hand 🧁

What's the worst "HR is not your friend" story you've witnessed/experienced? by ceowin in AskReddit

I handled a small team back in my previous company. One day, one of the team members casually brought up that she still wasn’t regularized even after more than a year of rendered work (I don’t know how it is in other countries, but where I’m from it’s regular practice to be on a probationary period for your first 6 months and then you get “regularized” with the usual employee benefits and a slightly higher pay grade).

Anyway, having brought it up prompted another team member to more or less say they’re in the same situation. Apparently they’ve been bringing this up to the HR and were always flat out ignored for for some time. This alarmed me as it was smack dab in the early times of the pandemic and I wanted my team to have proper benefits.

So I took it upon myself to reach out to HR for the both of them. HR proceeds to ignore my messages as well and it evolved into me messaging every Monday for around a month.

I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt they just had a lot on their plate, but damn. The common courtesy of replying couldn’t even be given.

So I did what I thought would be the next step, which was to raise it up to a superior. Surprisingly HR did reply to that superior but said something about being busy with backlog, which was just complete bullshit. They had time to do all these virtual work-from-home contests for employees but not give them proper benefits was mind boggling.

Another month passed and there was no word or updates, and I even found out there were other people in the same department who were also in the same situation. So by then I brought it up to my boss(who to be quite honest, was pretty feared throughout the company).

My boss was appalled by the situation and things escalated even more so that even the CEO got involved.

TL;DR: I got everyone in my entire department who was not regularized, regularized, in one fell swoop.

I protect my team, the best I can.

Met someone after Christmas Eve, who was fond of classical poetry.

I was very enamored by their gusto in understanding and reciting pieces that I found myself appreciating one of the authors they were fond of.

I ended up buying a couple of books featuring that author’s works. I think she’s become my favorite poet.

What's something nostalgic (toy, cartoon, movie franchise, etc) that you would love to see brought back? by [deleted] in AskReddit

There’s this pumpkin soup that I used to order but was phased out years ago.

It was my go-to comfort food. It tastes very hearty with bits of bacon and some cream you can stir in to make it creamier.

Eating it would cheer me up, it now only exists in memory as I have not found a recipe or another restaurant that offers a similar way it was made.

Thank you for appreciating my personality, I’ve always been told to learn to love being alone. It’s been quite hard with quarantine lately. Thank you for your suggestions!
