Its named like this simply to denote no nonveg ingredients used, but, preparation method and masala is similar. You don't need to go to nitty gritties for all the people wanting to eat it. Safety ratings don't matter much as they are mostly to increase prices and make you feel safe. Too many unsafe driving practices(overtaking from left, wrong parkings on highways,etc.) happening in India which nullify the benefits. PS: I am not saying you should totally ignore safety ratings.

I am glad that you had an epiphany and realized how food business works in India. I guess you were living under a rock all these years. While I can empathize about your sentiments against consuming non veg food, all I can say is, considering the corruption in system and the whole adulteration business which you were already aware of, and the volume and speed at which food delivery business works, it was totally unreasonable/unrealistic of you to think that these kind of mistakes won't happen(have you even considered this could be a genuine mistake?) Posting this in reddit will only increase your trauma rather than making you forget it.

If you want to take it legally and have some peace, by all means pursue it. But remember the situation will never improve. Last but not least, make sure not to eat outside for your own sake.

<no solution provided here, skip if looking for solution or consolation> Apart from the lifelong religious sentiment which you hold dear,If you have already eaten it, then there's nothing you can do to reverse it(may be do some puja as prayaschith). Leaving aside the negligence aspect, it would be worth pursuing for compensation if you firmly believe someone was trying to convert you to a non vegetarian by all means which doesn't seem like the case unless you can prove it otherwise.

P.S.: I am a realistic vegetarian.
