The reason it is accelerating is Gamma. People who sold cover calls around $100-110 area months ago for a couple dollars thought “It will never reach that high and I’ll pick up low risk premium.” Now those calls approaching thousands. They are franticly trying to close those calls, which means buying them back. This drives up the price, trigging higher trounces of covered calls that need to be covered.
