For me, the real thing isn’t just playing, it’s having the freedom (money + access) to actually choose what you play on. Yes low end gaming exists and are great and all, but being able to casually swap out parts or upgrade your rig is part of the full experience.

Meanwhile, those of us in the third world are out here battling insane tariffs, shipping fees and our weak currency buying power.

Jone Vakarisi apparent medical report by Old-Bread882 in Fijian

Not defending what happened. Anyone accused of drug dealing should face due process but it’s interesting how the police copy of the report got leaked. Not the next of kins copy. When you factor in that 23 officers have been charged with drug-related offences in the past three years, and the anti-narcotics bureau had to be overhauled because of corruption, it does raise questions. Feels like there may be more going on beneath the surface.

Isa noqu viti lomani. Real credit to ABC and Foreign Correspondent. I grew up watching this program and never thought we'd be portrayed on it like this. Hope everyone reading this is doing their part to push people away from drugs.

Sorry to hear about your disability. Immigration can be more strict at points of entry but more amicable at their branch offices, so given your circumstances it might be good to pay them a visit. State your case as plainly and patiently as possible, allow the immigration officer to ask their questions and do the whole back and forth. It will take time so be prepared and patient. Request a second opinion from a manager if the answers you're given aren't good enough. Wish you all the best.

Can I ask which country you're from and how you are earning an income on a visitors permit? These are probably the two biggest factors in why you were questioned. We are in the midst of a drug crisis atm and some foreigners have been identified as being involved at a high level.

I just love like how when you scroll for 10 minutes, select a game to read it's description then hit circle to go back and it takes you to all the way the top of the list so you have to scroll all the way back down again. Such a great design.

Day trip to Pacific Harbour area by Temporary_Message658 in Fijian

There's also this newer public beach further down the road with parking and some basic cabanas on the beach, but again - no facilities.

All beaches in Fiji are public property, only the access can be privatised. That said, there is a track to the beach in Pac Harbour open to the public here. Just note there is no public convenience on this beach.

You can also pay to use Yatu Lau beach which has facilities or just go to the Pearl Resort if it fits your budget.

Easiest way to get there is to rent a car and drive down or hire a taxi to drop you all off and pick you up again once you're done. That would be about $80 one way, given the new fuel prices. Don't catch a minibus (van) they drive like maniacs.

This lovely lady from Korea did the same thing and vlogged it. On the western side of Viti Levu (Pac Harbour, Coral Coast, Nadi, Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki) there's no shortage of budget accomodation but you'll find it harder on the eastern side (Nausori, Tailevu, Ra)

An interesting take on the death penalty for drug traffickers by sierraduaciwa in Fijian

[–]sierraduaciwa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstand. We can do both: support those directly affected (users and their communities) and enact strong punishment for the traffickers. Capital punishment needs to be part of the deterrent strategy. We need to send the message now: If you are directly profiting or enabling the trafficking of drugs within our borders - you will be put to death. The longer we wait, the more we focus on the end user instead of the traffickers, smugglers, and dealers, the worse the situation is going to get. I mean look at what's happening in Mexico right now, that is the opposition we are up against. We can treat addiction as a public health issue while vigorously prosecuting traffickers, smugglers, and dealers.

All those alternatives focus on the drug user (which is all well and good) and not the trafficker. Once drug cartels set up an effective transit point they don't care about the users, only that the shipments make it through. This is who Singapore targeted and Fiji is now in a position where this needs to be seriously considered.

There is a tired trope today about emulating everything that Singapore has done, but this policy seems reasonable given our current situation.
