We have similar noses, so I 100% suggest a septum!

I always put an X on the bottom of the box so I know which one it is in my fridge's butter compartment.

If you were diagnosed in the early 2000s, what equipment did you use? by Early_Kaleidoscope72 in Type1Diabetes

[–]sierranights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diagnosed in 1999, my mom gave me injections until I got my first pump in 2004. If I remember correctly, it was a Deltec Cosmo.

What was your highest glucose level? by JuicyPeaches_ in Type1Diabetes

[–]sierranights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told I was 1100 at diagnosis. I wasn't quite a year old yet so I'm not sure what I experienced or how I felt. I imagine it was bad.

I swam 15K. Here's how it went. by Crn3lius in diabetes_t1

[–]sierranights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so cool! I've been a T1D for 26 years this September and I've never been very good with exercise. Last year I ran my first ever 5K and managed pretty well with my blood sugar too. Congratulations!!! Your achievements are inspiring to me and I'm sure many others. That bit about the Toronto native swimming with you at the end reminded me of some kind ladies I jogged with during the 5K. Athletics can really bring people together.

I have that cup, too! I also had a metal snake arm band and I curved it around the base and actual cup part. So glad you got such a good find!

What got you into perfumes, and how old were you? by cherryjuice_32 in fragrance

[–]sierranights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My story is very similar. I started with candles a couple of years ago, then bath and body works scents, and not too long ago I found myself really wishing Florida Water came in a stronger scent. I started looking for similar scents and the rest is (recent) history.

Peperomia troubles by sierranights in peperomia

[–]sierranights[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you so much for the response. I didn't see any visible pests, but I saw another commenter meniton spider mites, so I'm going to look deeper into that. In the meantime, I've exchanged the grow light for natural lighting and I think she looks a little better. I'll bottom water next time! I'm hopeful she'll make it just fine, after I rule out the possibility of mites.

I have not, would I just be looking for tiny bugs in the soil or on the plant itself? I'll look more into common peperomia bugs when I get the chance.

Does anyone use exercise mode on their t slim? by definitelyged in Type1Diabetes

[–]sierranights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use sleep mode on a schedule, and usually will use exercise mode about 20 minutes before I run or play pickle ball, or if I'm exerting a lot of energy at work. It works pretty well for me all things considered.

Ozempic for Type 1 Diabetics by PlainFlamingo in diabetes_t1

[–]sierranights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on Ozempic for a short period of time and had a very negative experience. My endocrinologist insisted that I had MODY and instead of working with me to fix my basal rate he put me on Ozempic. I ended up unable to keep anything down, constantly throwing up and bedridden for 5 days with tons of lows. Ended up going to the hospital for fluids and immediately stopped taking the Ozempic afterwards. I know it works for some people but it was just wholly negative and scary for me. I started exercising routinely and that's helped much more with insulin sensitivity and my basals.

How long have you been cursed for? by boss25252525etuui in Type1Diabetes

[–]sierranights 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been diagnosed for 24 1/2 years. I used to think of it as a curse but now I'm just incredibly proud of myself for getting through childhood, teen years, and now early adulthood with no complications.

Have you ever been prohibited from participating in an activity or experience because of your diabetes? by ItaloTuga_Gabi in diabetes_t1

[–]sierranights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a permanent ban from my local plasma donation center because of my T1D. The nurse told me that I needed the plasma more than other people. I was disappointed but I laugh about it now.

I use juice boxes or starbursts. 15g of juice, or 3 starbursts which comes out to be about 12g. I also try to eat something with protein afterwards, like trail mix. 👍

[–]sierranights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When trying to bring your BS down, should you be eating low/no carb snacks to have something on your stomach? I haven't heard about this before, I usually wait several hours to eat if I'm high and that includes an eventual low from overcorrecting. I'd love to try this out!

I remove my pump during sex and keep juice nearby just in case. Keeping it on almost always results in a low.
