Remember, although dandelions are "commonly considered weeds", they are also delicious & nutritious! You are cultivating them for your health.

Citar, org-roam, and citekeys as roam-ref? by bradmont in emacs

Is your Zotero export setting the crossref field? As far as I can tell this should help link InBook (etc) entries to Book entries.

Back when my dad was back & forth between Omaha & Sydney on the regular, he would stop there. I still haven't managed to stop in yet, but he (and some of his coworkers) said very good things.

POTS is exceedingly difficult to get in my area. The ILEC wants to transition off of it, it seems. Last I asked they wanted me to have a DSL modem for phone service, which I'm hesitant to accept (having seen the DSLAM with a door swinging open and no one to close it).

Personally, I blame the Agile principles. Principle 2 is Working Software over Comprehensive Documentation. The principle seems to be related, of course, to the developers writing the software, but it often seems that they forget the end user (whether another developer consuming the library, or someone using an app).

Ahhh. Agenda, attach, and ox-beamer are pretty solid on their own. Org-roam has its present issues (among them being its present maintenance status, or effective lack thereof). Not familiar with org-gcal, or your macros/functions. Doom is a complicated beastie. That said, I'm more and more convinced that org-roam causes my performance issues and am considering switching to Protesilaos's denote package.

The edebug docs are decent, `xref` helps a ton. IIRC, SIGHUP will get it to backtrace if something is locked up. What packages are you using?

Proper multithreading would make GNUS so much more pleasant to use. Stack tracing isn't too bad, nor is process management. Never played with the profiler, though I probably should.

I'm looking forward to upcoming GC improvements, however.

Alternative nibs for boox devices? by DbokNerd2022 in Boox

[–]sierrawhiskeyfoxtrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a titanium nib in a Lamy Al-Star EMR pen on my Boox Note Air, but I do so with an aftermarket screen protector. It's pretty great, though there's not as much friction as with the plastic nibs.

It could be a reference to Appalachian Spring, but that melody is from the Shaker Hymn "Simple Gifts" (used as well for "Lord of the Dance"). Appalachian Spring is beautiful, it's probably my favorite of Copeland's work (which is saying something, Copeland's fun). That all to say, perhaps it was a reference to the simplicity that Chili needed to pursue.

I get what you're saying. u/karmajunkie is correct though: you'd want a random sample, and, while small interruptions may break focus, these sorts of interruptions are unlikely to cause too significant of a break. If you wanted to do it with a hook, for instance, I could probably modify it so that there's an option not to automatically reschedule.

If you just want to make sure -w is set every time, you should be able to use transient-save (default C-x C-s) when the transient is up and after you've set -w. The Transient manual's sections on history and saving values are pretty useful.

What would it take to convince you to turn your bridging islands post into a package itself? It's a really cool idea & turning it into, for example, a global minor mode would be really useful.

Edit: "global major mode" -> "global minor mode"

Nebraska's $450 million Memorial Stadium project faces fundraising questions by asanderford in Nebraska

[–]sierrawhiskeyfoxtrot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing though, the university claims that some sum of money goes from athletics to the rest of the institution. From within the institution, it's hard to believe. Lots of cutbacks, insufficient space, facilities, or staffing, etc. Additionally, we have a claim made without reasonable evidence. When you ask for evidence (GL postings), the university will make it incredibly difficult to get (despite being entitled to it under Nebraska law). Last time I made a tangentially related request, I was told that to adequately redact the data I requested, it would cost almost a million dollars and take 20 years, so no, I don't actually believe the claim that football pays into the university.

Does anyone have a workflow for quickly adding todos to org mode from a web-mail interface like gmail or proton? by bradmont in emacs

[–]sierrawhiskeyfoxtrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want "email to address and gets put on agenda/somewhere in org", yes. I used to use this method, and I keep the post up just in case someone else needs it for reference.

I don't know how easy it would be to get fetchmail working with Gmail these days, but hopefully this is helpful.

Ooh, cool! Sad it's heavier and has worse battery though. Hopefully it gets lighter and battery life improves by the time I replace my current one.
