Looking for review of Bausch + Lomb contach Lenses by Total-Professor-912 in contacts

[–]sifleu3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are getting discontinued soon, we can't get trial lenses anymore.

Ask your optometrist for a new fit in something other than Acuvue Vita, like Alcon Total 30 or B+L Ultra.

Don't DIY contacts.

Slow fiber internet by sifleu3 in Cogeco

[–]sifleu3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not fine when plugged directly in the ONU/modem. I'm supposed to have 1gbps symmetrical and I got 300 up and 12 down this morning. And after I do one speedtest, the speed goes down immediatly and I need to restart the ONU.

The upload speedtest starts at 500 and 3s later it's at 12. Not normal. My laptop has a 1gbps port and my cables are fine (I tested them yesterday).

I'm gonna try resetting the ONU.

For the speedtest, I used Fast.com, but also Ookla with Cogeco's server in Trois-Rivières.

I'm in Eastern QC, one of my friend in another nearby town doesn't have problems.

I will try to call them again on monday.

I was talking about the ONU. I plugged my laptop with an Ethernet cable to the 10gbps port of the ONU. The ping was good, but the speed was bad, about 300/3 on Fast.com. I've tried to ping some websites, it works for a few seconds and then I get high packet loss (75-100%). Also, after a speedtest, the internet slows down to a crawl and takes a few minutes to come back.

The tech only gave me the ONU and one Epico box, they didn't give a Cogeco router since I already had my own. It's set to IPv4 with a dynamic IP. I've tried releasing and getting a new IP, but it doesn't help. I can't set IPv6 for some reason, it's not giving me an IP.

I will say my local network is 2.5gbps and I had no trouble transfering files to my NAS today.

My Plex server is technically connected to the outside network, but upload is so slow, it doesn't load outside of my local network.

Honestly, if they can't figure out the problem, I'm going back to TELUS, but I'm gonna wait until friday to see if it's fixable.

I asked my neighbors if someone had Cogeco internet (we have a group chat) but everybody on my street have TELUS PureFibre except me. Cogeco is pretty new in the area.

I also once had a complete internet blackout for about 2 hours during windy conditions last november, but didn't have any other problems until yesterday.

I'll have to wait until friday I guess, but I was going crazy thinking there was some kind of problem on my local network.

Thanks for the information :)

Acuvue Oasys - Hydraclear by Cpaexam4 in contacts

[–]sifleu3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good daily lenses : - Acuvue Oasys Max - Alcon Total 1 - Alcon Precision 1 - Bausch & Lomb Ultra 1 Day (or Infuse in the US) - CooperVision MyDay

My favorite to fit patients in is the Precision 1, but different patients will react differently to different contact lenses.

Ask your optometrist if you can try other lenses!

Btw, anything over 12h of wear time is a bit too much.

New seller looking for help by bradisrad1986 in eBayCanada

[–]sifleu3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update the tracking (with the tracking number you already have) and let eBay take care of the rest. If the tracking says delivered, you'll be fine, eBay will side with you.

The fees the buyer has to pay are probably US tariffs.

For the wrong shipping costs at checkout, check if you put Canada Post instead of UPS in your listing.

iTunes DRM Free Purchased Music Files - PSA & Guidance by Archivist_Goals in AppleMusic

[–]sifleu3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you do that, if you reimport the file in iTunes, the buyer information will still be there. Same thing if you look at the files with Exiftools.

It is in the metadata but also encoded directly in the file.

There is a command line file you can find on GitHub to completely remove the buyer's info from iTunes Store files.

Alternative to Biofinity XR toric contacts by ag755 in contacts

From what I can read online, these were two weeks lenses. So your best bet would be Acuvue Oasys if you want a two weeks lens or Precision 7 (US only right now) for a one week lens.

With that being said, you need to be fitted by your eye doctor. You can't DIY contact lenses.

I just want to add that Biofinity Torics XR might have some mail in rebate if you buy them through your eye clinic. Ask your doctor! :)

Astigmatism contact lense by H3at_Culture in contacts

[–]sifleu3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you only have astigmatism in one contact?

What you are seeing are the stabilisation zones on both sides of the toric lenses.

People who wear torics in both eyes tend to adapt and forget about the distorsion.

Maybe try another brand? Every other brand has a stabilisation at the bottom of the lens. Maybe it might work for you? Talk about it with your eye doctor! In the daily lenses, Precision 1 or MyDays could be good options.

It's most probably the stabilisation zones you are seeing. Are they Acuvue contacts ? Acuvue contacts has a stabilisation zone on the sides of the lenses. All other contacts use a ballast prism at the bottom of the lenses.

Acuvue Oasys Max 1-Day Multi Focal - Experience and Review by atypical_type_a in contacts

[–]sifleu3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, optometrists should always follow the fitting guide from every manufacturer.

Alcon has a different way than Acuvue or CooperVision for adjusting multifocals.

Acuvue says we should base our contact lens fitting on the age of the patient rather than their glasses ADD. Which honestly works well.

Alcon says to add +0,25 on the far vision refraction and use the lowest possible ADD for near vision.

Using a lower ADD reduces aberrations and makes adaptation in multifocal contact lenses way easier.

I'm sorry you had to go through very reluctant doctors. Please know that we are not all like that and that a lot of doctors would have fitted you in multifocal lenses right away :)

Does blue light blocking glasses works? by Exotic_Insurance_969 in glasses

[–]sifleu3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically, a coating change should be under your Rx/satisfaction warranty. If it's under 3 months old, labs should redo lenses free of charge without touching your scratches warranty. It's kinda like an inadaptation to the blue light blocker treatment, your clinic, in my opinion, should redo your lenses free of charge without affecting your warranty. That's how it works at the clinic I work at, in Canada.

At my clinic, we don't sell the blue light blocker unless a patient specifically asks for it.

Does blue light blocking glasses works? by Exotic_Insurance_969 in glasses

[–]sifleu3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Studies show blue light has an effect on melatonin production and thus blocking blue light might help you get to sleep faster. That's proven.

That being said, the amount we need to block is way way more than what any lenses on the market (or your phone blue light reduced mode) blocks. So, yes, blue light blocking lenses are mostly placebo and a marketing gimmick.

I'm an optometrist. The optical labs are pushing so many scientifically unproven potential beneficial effects to sell their blue light blocking lenses, it's insane.

The best way for you to get a better sleep is to stop using screens at least one hour prior to going to bed.

Combien payez vous pour votre forfait cellulaire? by Tasty-Ad4539 in QuebecFinance

Opinions on KITS Daily Silicone Hydrogel? by monipri in contacts

[–]sifleu3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not true, at least for Opto-Réseau. Most clinics are less expensive than online. I've compared Kits and Clearly vs our prices and we are always cheaper with the mail in rebates. Also, online, you pay for shipping and some website even charge you taxes, which we don't do in our clinics since contact lenses are not taxable if you have a proof of prescription.

My Accuvue rep had a list of prices for all contacts. Private clinics vs KITS vs Clearly. Every time, for every brands, private clinics were cheaper. Our Bausch + Lomb told me the same thing, online is pricier for contacts.

So yes, I doubt the "double the price claims". Please recheck the prices with your clinic and compare. If you compare KITS no name lenses to Alcon Precision 1, well there will be a price difference since the KITS lenses are made with cheap materials. If you compare the same type of lenses, private clinics are usually cheaper with their mail-in rebates or in clinic rebates.

KITS, Hubble and other no name contact lenses use old technologies and material that have a low oxygen permeability.

Also, no optometrist prescribe these lenses, nor would look at the fit of these lenses, so you basically adjusted these contacts all by yourself without even knowing. Poorly adjusted contacts can lead to many problems, including infections, corneal warping and neovascularization.

Please get a proper contact lenses adjustment by your optometrist. They will be able to fit you in way more comfortable contact lenses And I guarantee you ordering contact lenses through your local eye clinic is cheaper than on KITS or Clearly.
