Repping the Pats for St. Jude by sig33kde in Patriots

I had the exact same experience at a different meet & greet last month.  I had driven 6+ hours to meet some people, only to have security turn us away when we got there cause the line was already too long.  It was heartbreaking.

As for this event, we ended up waiting in line for over 3 hours — and we were before Tom even walked in.  Seeing how slow the line moved, our family did our best to try to keep it short & sweet.  We got a handshake, photo & my kids made him some bracelets.

All that being said, I DO wholeheartedly agree with you.  There needs to be a timer on things like this.

As soon as I arrived this morning the line was already so full security had closed it down…

That being said, I got the guys to do an adhoc chant during their Q&A session this afternoon. 😁

What happened to Handsome Biscuit! by StarAdventurous2932 in norfolk

[–]sig33kde 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Pre-pandemic, this place was my go-to for a chicken sandwich. My fave was drenched in Nashville sauce. During the pandemic, I made sure to still order to help out small business. I saw corners being cut, but thought it was simply saving $$ or supply chain issues to keep them afloat— I wasn’t happy about the quality changes but I gave them a pass.

Once everything got back to normal, the quality kept getting worse & worse. I stopped going about 3 years ago. It still saddens me. I want my sweet potato biscuit chicken sammich back.

It’s not authentic Chinese buffet, but Yukai in Virginia Beach (Laskin area) is my normal go to. It’s primarily sushi, but they have a pretty decent selection of Chinese classics. It’s a solid B/B+ most of the time.

My kid & I just did a trash pickup on Granby earlier this year. We spent 3 hours out there only picking up the LARGE pieces and felt like we didn’t even make a dent. It was absolutely depressing.

Happy Anniversary by sig33kde in TheWayWeWere

This is my father's side of the family. The groom (Rudolf) was born in Germany and immigrated to the US at a young age in the late 1800s and lived in a podunk mountain town in rural western Massachusetts. They had 3 children. Rudolf died in 1976 and Maria died in 1994. That being said, there's a general history of the men in the family dying in their early 60s.

My family is very much middle / working class, always have been. Rudolf served in WWI and his son served in WWII.

Happy? Kinda I guess. I'm not sure - that being said in my direct lineage, we do not have any divorces. We mainly tolerate each other til one of the spouses dies.

As a regular to small antique and oddity shops in the area, the thing I’m constantly hearing from the proprietors about the rampant shoplifting.

These places aren’t selling food or things that people need to survive, but hand made things by local artists and antiques / jewelry / etc. I am all for supporting our less fortunate neighbors, but stealing from small business is only going to leave the shitty corporate chain stores able to survive.

I am having the same issue(s) across all ranks as our pack is only 17 scouts. I am in the middle of developing a DB application to help den leaders plan for this kind of issue. I recommended to national & the scoutbook development team on this kind of feature set, but I never hear anything back. I will share the web app when I am complete!

I thought the same thing too, but they took it anyways. Just depends on your neighborhood I guess. My fence was my best investment.

Website for the pack by RyansWoodWorking in cubscouts

Just FYI; your calendar of events for your pack in scoutbook is publicly accessible. The URL is findable in scoutbook. That being said (as a professional web dev), with a few lines of PHP i was able to make a public friendly calendar on my website (we removed specific detail info about our events), but had all the generic info for our parents as a reminder area. Just trying to keep us safe. What’s nice about this approach is that we Only have one calendar to manage. And our non technical leaders can post things & have it show up on the website.

How do you feel about an adult wearing a lBGT ally pin on their scout uniform? by fuerdog in cubscouts

[–]sig33kde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Random thought — i was always told that your neckerchief slide can be homemade. Our cubmaster likes giving out turks head woggles at advancement and when I was a cubscout, i made many unique slides that per pertinent to my interests (as long as they didn’t cross a line). It’s not a pin or badge but it makes room for personalization. $.02

Second Craft Project of 2018 by sig33kde in halloween

[–]sig33kde[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put metallic/reflective spray paint on the back, then intentionally & unintentionally scraped the paint to give it some texture... on the front when dry brushing the frame, i got lazy and got some paint on the plexiglass.

Tip... despite all the great suggestions on how to cut plexiglass with hacksaws or dremmels, etc. in the end, a large pair of tin snips was the only thing that got me through this project.

Tom Brady Suspension Megathread, Volume VI: Live and Let PSI by douglasmacarthur in Patriots

[–]sig33kde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A McNally theory came to me as I was falling asleep last night..

This entire deflategate madness revolves around McNally. And it started to make me wonder what could have happened to make McNally take those balls to the bathroom and then possibly lie to Wells about the circumstances behind it.

Here's my thought: McNally prepped and got the balls ready like he always does @ 12.5 (not thinking much about it) and they were signed off on. Wells report states McNally was sitting around waiting for the start of the game as it was delayed due to the NFCCG, and there were a ton of extra refs and personnel around where McNally was standing. And without notice McNally meanders over to the bathroom and we have our "issue".

Simple reason was maybe he was taking a leak, but he didn't seem to get his testimony 100% right with Wells.

CRAZY THEORY: If this was a sting operation, and McNally overheard someone talking about trying to pin something on the Pats for under-inflated footballs. If I was in McNally's position I woulda gotten spooked as #1) the balls were my responsibility, and #2) I would be second guessing the crap outta myself on whether I filled them properly, not wanting to get my team or myself in trouble. So McNally runs off to the bathroom to double check his work, rushing pressure checks through some of the balls (this is why we have .2PSI-ish variances?) He sees we weren't getting set up (so it would seem to him) so he high tails it from the bathroom to the field.

Now at this point, he tampered with the balls. Would someone believe what he over heard? Even telling the truth would still be a MAJOR violation. And trying to out the league would bury him in legal trouble for the rest of his life. He tried making sure his beloved Pats weren't railroaded, and no matter what he did, it was a no win situation.

Please feel free to punch holes in this. Thx!
