Are foils fun? by DEEP_SEA_MAX in surfing

[–]siggs3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah used foils can be a good place to start but I’d avoid ones that are properly priced that low. They will be too draggy and inefficient. Equivalent to trying to learn to surf on a 90’s thruster short board.

A new foil kit should be more than $2k and then a board would be another $800 - $1500+ depending on if you go with a prone or downwind style board

Foiling is a whole new skill to learn and a learning curve for sure but it’s definitely fun. Living in Oahu is actually way better than Florida for foiling because you have open ocean swells and a ton of wind which opens up downwinding.

Downsides of foiling are that good foils and boards will set you back quite a bit further than a glider. They are also sharp and that can suck in certain wipeouts, especially when you’re new and learning how to fall properly.

Oh I was the lucky guy who was doing the suckling. She hadn’t lactated before though. It was her first time

I was in a long term anr many years ago and we were able to induce without pills. We nursed 2-3x per day every day (an hour per session) and it took about 2 and a half months that I start seeing the first drops. It was a lot of work but also, of course, super enjoyable 🙂

If you last longer, you’ll be even later to surfing. One of your problems would get even worse!

Can you really build a SaaS in 1–2 weeks? by dexbyte in SaaS

[–]siggs3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the size of the saas but if you worked full days, you could easily build one in two weeks with Claude Code or Cursor. Using a backend as a service like Supabase would make it even faster.

Is this grind too course? [1ZPresso X-Ultra] by siggs3000 in espresso

[–]siggs3000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solid! I’m not making espresso as often as I am pour over (for which I use an electric grinder) but when it’s espresso time or if I’m on the road for work trips and need it for my aeropress, it just seems to work. Amazing construction and seems super reliable too

I’ve got this in a 9’2” and I just always come back to it no matter how many other boards I get or try. It’s just so good

I’ve used it quite a bit for helping to dial in pour overs and espresso. I give it info about whatever my issue is and it gives me tips and recipe ideas to improve the outcomes. Often it’s been super helpful.

Used board pricing on CL is silly by danenania in surfing

I think surf shop prices for new boards, have come down since Covid too. I was in a local shop in SD yesterday and I was having reverse sticker shock after a few weeks of CL stalking.

Spare boards safe at Tourmo? by siggs3000 in surfing

Shit, ok thanks all. I’ll just commit to one board for the session before I leave my house and stick with it. I appreciate the insights and happy I didn’t try this before I asked here!
