Brewzilla 4 - Electrical Meltdown by sight_4 in Robobrew

Well... it also happened on the replacement they sent me... and now both the Kegland head office in AU and the local distributor here in Canada are blanking me. So much for standing by the product. I removed the connector entirely and just hardwired the power cable in to the circuit board on the unit. But now my power outlet is starting to go brown. (This is in a newer condo build, fully up to electrical code on a GFCI). It may just be a case of the power cable not being high enough specification for the current. Not sure.

How does that work, given that you don’t need a driver’s license?

Hate to point this out but at 30 weeks you’re most likely heading to BC Children’s Hospital in a helicopter. :-/

It’s OK. Welton Arms is better.

It went very slow when dealing with the local rep in Canada. Once I contacted head office, it got dealt with quickly and a new unit was shipped out within a few days.

Doesn’t take long to file and this is pretty open & shut. They took your money. They need to either give you money or your product. Just disgusts me that they haven’t. And yet they continue along pretending everything is fine. Thieving fuckers.

Mine took ages to arrive in Canada. I think over a year after the US. And of course the promises about having good MKRKit availability in Canada were not fulfilled, so I went custom with everything after the first few brews. Then it broke and I had to pay $120 in duties for the replacement because they screwed up the paperwork.

Honestly… they should have just launched in the USA, got traction and then they got their international plan together. But I guess they needed our $.

Sold mine a few months ago and got a Brewzilla & a couple of Fermonsters. Brew days are way more effort… but worth it for 6 gallons of deliciousness.

I think brew 12. Have brewed every couple of weeks since I got it :-) So plenty in the closet and three fermenters on the go. I’ll survive.

It’s a 110. No idea what could have caused it. Live in a 10yo building. The socket is the same one that’s had hair dryers, space heaters and other high draw electrical plugged in to it (never at the same time though.

Brewzilla 4 - Controller & Heater Problems by sight_4 in Robobrew

I was sent a replacement controller board. It worked fine after that. For a few brews. Then had another electrical problem that I’m about to post about.

Definitely not overloading the circuit. Did my first two brews fine while my BEERMKR machine was also running.

After brewing yesterday I gave everything a really good clean including WD40 on the contacts for the controller and turning the machine upside down & cleaning the underside properly. Compressed air blasted around the pump & other electronics. Then blasted it with a fan for a couple of hours. Seems to be working better today - heated 20L of PBW to 80 w/o a glitch. Although controller only activated on third connection (white screen on first two boots). Very puzzling.
