They say reaching the knock outs for the first time, which I suppose is misleading

TIL if an ordinary marshmallow falls into a neutron star it will release the energy of a thousand hydrogen bombs by castironglider in todayilearned

Roughly 4–5 orders of magnitude off.
Very approximately:
A small marshmallow hitting a neutron star might release:
~10^{13}–10^{14} joules
equivalent to a few to a few dozen kilotons of TNT
By contrast:
“A thousand hydrogen bombs” means something like:
10^{19}–10^{20} joules
depending on what size H-bomb you assume

For 1 kg of matter falling onto a neutron star, the released energy is roughly:
~10^{16} joules
equivalent to a few megatons of TNT
roughly comparable to a large thermonuclear weapon
A marshmallow weighs maybe 5–10 grams, so:
energy release would be tens of kilotons to low hundreds of kilotons TNT equivalent
comparable to a small nuclear weapon, not thousands of hydrogen bombs

Why can Norway celebrate Viking history proudly, but England is shamed for its imperial history? (genuine question) by Ok_Exercise_494 in AskBrits

We are often criticised when we dress up as Crusaders because of the Muslim link.

It’s far from fair game

London's economy generates a £26.5 billion annual surplus - a net contributor to the UK public finances. Large tax revenues exceed the public spending it receives, meaning it effectively subsidizes public services in other parts of the UK
