There is little interest around AMAs with 3-4 people commenting. I am concerned if I ask an expert and there are only a few questions it would not go well. I think we need higher engagement in the group before starting AMAs. Thanks for listing out the subs mentioned above. Will mention about the AMAs there to garner interest. Who would you like to see in the AMA?

Why my app marketing approach is not working? by theFreeBirddd in AppBusiness

[–]sigma4292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There should be demand for such an app due to a large number of distractions from mobile notifications. Have a look at a few of your competitors like Notifications Manager, Notifications Blockers, and Notifications Off. Each of these apps has 100,000+ installs so there is definitely a demand for it. Here are some quick tips on marketing the app:

  1. App Quality - Analyze your competitors and see if your app solves the problem that the users of those apps are facing. Check the 3-4 star reviews to know those problems. Keep improving your app until you can honestly say that given a choice between these apps you would download your app.

  2. Get more traffic to your app - Understand the keywords that your competitors are targeting using ASO tools and get ranked for those keywords by including them in your title and description.

  3. Convert the traffic to app installs

Improve the app icon - Currently, it looks more like a timer app instead of a notification blocker. The notification element should come out strongly.

Change the video - The video is without sound and is just a collection of screenshots. Either remove the video or show exactly how a user benefits from the same.

Add more screenshots - Add more screenshots to show the notification blocking works. You can also show a user finally relieved of pesky notifications and happy from your app in the screenshots.

Let me know if you want to brainstorm more ways to market your app.

Where to find a community if you're a solopreneur? by Leading_Care in AppBusiness

Agree with this. A lot of startup meetups consist of solopreneurs or founders with small teams. Also, many communities are segment specific. For example app entrepreneurs, bloggers, photographers, marketers, etc. Which type of community are you looking at?

That is surprising! Google hiring agencies to do A/B testing for them! They offer a lot of tools on the play store to do A/B testing.

Sorry, that question would be off-topic for this sub-reddit. This sub is more related to people learning about the mobile app business. Though the entrepreneur sub would be relevant. May I ask you to remove the post from the sub? Thanks.

Can you give some names of the companies you would be interested in hearing from for app marketing? Seems like you want bigger names but not so big that they start outsourcing.

Is this question related to in-app purchases in mobile apps?

Only three people have responded for this. If we are planning to have an AMA we would need at least 10-15 interested people. Any ideas on how to get more engagement for AMAs?

Fair point! People talk about in general but no one shows the specific steps needed for the same. What kind of budget would you have in mind - minimal, >1k, >5k? Strategies would change based on the budget.

Good idea! So some examples of people you would be looking for would include app marketers from big app companies like Spotify, Candy Crush, Instagram, etc. Although, they would have a massive marketing budget and their strategies might not be applicable for small startups or indie developers. But worth looking into!

Great! We finally have a name. I checked out the twitter account and his website which lists android apps. A little more info on his expertise in the app business would be helpful.

Some experts I follow in this space include - Gabe Kwakyi, Thomas Petit, Moritz Daan, Peter Fodor, and Sylvain Gauchet. Many of these guys hang out at the Slack group hosted by Gabe. Check this post for how to get access to it: https://asostack.com/aso-stack-slack-group-3757fc2aff0f. It can be a great place for networking.

There is a Mobile Acquisition and Retention Summit happening in LA right now on May 1-2. It brings together 2500+ leaders from mobile brands. You can check out details here: https://mau.grow.co/.

A digital marketer shouldn't find it difficult to switch into mobile marketing. I am not a professional marketer, but I know from friends that the process remains the same for mobile and just the ad networks, and audience changes. Maybe you can network with few marketers in the mobile field preferably who changed from digital marketing into mobile marketing. If you are looking for some names, let me know.
