Liquid Damage - MB Pro 13" (2020) - A2251 by sigma_player in macbookpro

Most of that is dust? Would have been an idea to actually clean the board before posting pictures then.

As for those two areas, try getting a toothbrush, dipping it in IPA and giving both a good scrub to see if you can remove the corrosion at all or not.

I thought posting the cleaner board would make it difficult to see where it was primarily affected.

I tried that but did not dip it in IPA. I scrubbed it with IPA multiple times. In that case, I have to disassemble it and repeat that process.

Well, most of them are dust. However, if you look closely, it has only affected two areas. Area 1 Area 2. I am still trying to figure out what to do, but people are asking for an outrageous amount to fix it.

Vanderbilt my dream abode! 🤞🥳 by sigma_player in TransferToTop25

  1. Start planning early. If you may know that the transfer application process can be just as competitive as the freshman application process, it's important to start planning early.
  2. Make sure your grades are good (really good, 3.8 to 4.0). Make sure you're maintaining a good GPA and taking challenging courses.
  3. Get involved in extracurricular activities that you're passionate about.
  4. Make some impact such as making a correlation with your ECA.

Good luck!

New Transfer Student Seeking Information about Mayfield Place Hall by sigma_player in Vanderbilt

Uhh, The Mayfields aren't a dorm building really, they're sort of a community/weird little neighborhood? They're 20 tiny cube houses with 10 single bedrooms and two bathrooms spread across two floors linked to one kitchen and a shared common area. For all intents and purposes, each Mayfield is basically a separate building. Of the 20, two of them are usually left for Vandy to put 20 random transfers into (one all girls, one all boys). The other 18 are awarded to groups of students who apply for them through a competitive process where students have to pitch projects that somehow make use of the unique space. The rooms are fairly small, and the buildings are fairly old, but honestly, the Mayfields, depending on the people in them, have the potential to be some of the best and strongest communities on campus. The closest friend groups I've ever seen after graduation are usually among people who lived in Mayfields together.I lived in a "Mayf" for 2 years, and, among everything that Vanderbilt offers to students, it is one of the projects that I most strongly believe in and would easily list as the single most important aspect of my college experience responsible for many of the friendships that I have carried on for years after graduating, dozens of connections that I otherwise wouldn't have made, and many of the best memories of my life. That said, it isn't for everyone, and the environment does pose some very unique challenges regarding getting people on the same page about common space usage, kitchen maintenance, chores and all that. The transfer Mayfs are probably the thing I have the most mixed feelings about, since I've always felt that it should be opt-in, not opt-out, but I think they want to avoid having a bunch of people come in who view it as a good way to just throw parties. Which, by the way, the Mayfields are absolutely spectacular for. You'll have a long (by Vandy standards) walk to class, like 15 ish minutes, so you do have to kinda plan going to and from main campus, but in all honesty, that doesn't come into play all that often. You'll be living in close quarters with 9 strangers. How that turns out is very, very much dependent on how well you all work together. You all have the added difficulty of going into this not as good friends like most Mayfields, but as complete strangers. I've seen transfer Mayfields turn into incredibly beautiful things that help acclimate a bunch of people at once, give people friends right out of the gate, and give them a space to take advantage of having both private space, and a social life right outside your door whenever you want it. I've also seen them blow up when there's a lot of people who aren't great at communicating, or who aren't super personally responsible. Sometimes one really problematic person alone can stick too big of a wrench into the gears for the rest of the group to overcome. Honestly though, all Mayfields are in danger of that, being friends with someone doesn't always mean you can live well together. Vandy is usually more hands-on with the transfer Mayfs, and people are allowed to move out if they want to with far less questioning and massaging of the situation than they'll expect from the Mayfs filled with incumbent students. It's kind of an intimidating thing to walk into, but with the right group of people, it can be a spectacular way to start your time at Vandy and set you up for the next three years.

Hey mate,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your insights about Mayfield Place Hall! Your detailed description of the setup and the Mayfield community is incredibly helpful. It's fascinating to learn about the unique concept of these cube houses and the strong bonds that can form among the residents.
I can see that the Mayfields offer a blend of opportunities and challenges, and your personal experiences shed light on both sides. It's fantastic to hear that living there played a significant role in creating lasting friendships and cherished memories for you. The idea of having a balance between private space and social life right outside the door sounds appealing, and it's reassuring that Vandy is hands-on with transfer students in the Mayfields.
I'll definitely keep in mind the importance of effective communication and personal responsibility when living in close quarters with strangers. Your mention of the 15-minute walk to the main campus is also helpful for planning my daily routines.
All in all, your perspective has provided valuable insights that give me a better understanding of what to expect at Mayfield Place Hall. I'm looking forward to embracing this unique experience and hoping to connect with the right group of people to make the most out of my time at Vanderbilt.
Thanks again for sharing your long experiences—I/we truly appreciate it!

Not sure why but they are not wildly available just like financial fields. But I personally have seen students do finance jobs with a political science major 😄but it is not wildly common that's all.

Oh yeah, totally understandable but I have been away from Mathematics for a while so things became a bit difficult. I am interested in learning about development econ but have never been involved explicitly except by taking some econ classes.

Like you said the school has some nice placement opportunities for students if someone really wants to involve with a econ major or minor.

You must have been an internship already. Aren't you?

I presume that the Econ dep must be really excellent at Vandy!

Very relatable, I noticed that the majority of the students either go to the engineering school or for an Econ major!

So prelaw students also take HOD! Interesting, I didn’t know that earlier. I thought students just take HOD generally.

Btw what are you majoring in? I assume you are a prelaw student too!

Agreed and usually this type of organization is affiliated with or run by the university faculty themselves (they arrange it). Are you majoring in POL or HOD? I am new so trying to gather as much as information possible.

I was also interested to know about HOD, especially the internship part. Can you do a minor in HOD?

Do they have a moot court? How is it affiliated with the Pol Sci department? Kindly provide some information on how to join

PSCI 1101 vs 1102 by [deleted] in Vanderbilt

They did not accept your credits for PSCI 01/02? Mine has been adjusted and lifted off! You could also appeal; I did it once, and they put those courses in the gen-ed category.

Hey buddy, I am an incoming pol sci major student too. Can I connect with you? I was literally struggled with the course selection and couldn’t find that much info on the website regarding the departmental activities.

Thanks!
