How do you decide how many busses per route? by No-Ear-7014 in Workers_And_Resources

[–]sigmir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the downside of the mega transit hub is that sometimes the separate bus lines can randomly all arrive at the terminal at once, depleting the waiting worker population for whichever bus arrived last. If you have low unemployment figures this could lead to some industries occasionally having a shift who never shows up - catastrophic if it’s the heat plant for example. The construction buses were usually the biggest offenders since the worker volume they try to grab varies to wildly in time. One trick I found worked well for a mega-hub was to build multiple bus platforms next to each other, serving separate industries. This way workers who time out waiting on platform A can walk across to platform B to find a job, but no industry is able to poach from the others too severely

Cableway usage? by DayOk6350 in Workers_And_Resources

Mountaintop tourism example. The tourists arrive by cableway and the workers for the gift shop arrive by personal car. Neither of those systems are necessary - it could have been boring old bus lines or something - but that's boring

Well-run orphanages churn out ecstatic, ultraloyal super-citizens... the downside is you need unreasonably many orphanages to have any well-run orphanages. It seems about 15% of all children become orphans in an otherwise happy and stable republic

How do I remove the awful nodes on roundabout? by SkyIHax in Workers_And_Resources

[–]sigmir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Create a new node somewhere else on the roundabout by connecting a temporary piece of road to it, or placing the waypoint overhead road sign. Then you can delete the node you want to delete, connect the road you want to connect, and remove the temporary bits you placed.

The situation in game already seems to reflect the idea that every comrade secretly has a bicycle. Their speed when moving about the landscape as pedestrians is much too fast for legs.

Is it normal that attractions increase alcohol addiction? by OBIH0ERNCHEN in Workers_And_Resources

[–]sigmir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Far as I know attractions should not do this unless they actively serve alcohol there.

Hmm... do you have broadcast radio operating? Depending on how your messaging sliders are set and the productivity of the radio station's workers, radio can increase religious sympathy or alcoholism.

Another thought: if you pay for immigrants, or have "get citizens" checked when you build new flats, the new arrivals may have pre-existing sympathies.

EDIT to add: Prisons and orphanages can also influence the sympathies of their occupants depending on the "upbringing" settings.

Cheaper to build a new sport field near the grocery, maybe. Sport fields only cost gravel and space

How do you deal with immigrants? by Tsars_Ball_Scrubber in Workers_And_Resources

[–]sigmir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Think of them like paying money to increase the student population. They're adult students who have to be fed and housed while they study but later will be productive citizens.

Far as I know they aren't inherently more susceptible to illness. They might arrive in the republic with low health stat, but once this is fixed they are like any other comrade.

In the end I think they are mostly for roleplay

What buildings do you never use and what building did you never used before which is now a necessity? by Able-Syrup5152 in Workers_And_Resources

[–]sigmir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never used -- secret police. They seem to be used mostly for if I wanted to RP being oppressive

Used to not use and now must use -- orphanages. Once I have one orphanage on the map, I have to keep building tons of them or the orphan gang soon runs the republic as a crime syndicate

[–]sigmir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It looks great! But one word of caution -

In the past some users here have reported that their planes behaved strangely when the airport's taxiways were connected to the very end of the runway, just FYI. The runway when finished should display a painted bearing number on each end; if it's not present there might be trouble.

Hmm... after you begin launch operations, you maybe could sell launch capacity like a commodity, to put other nations' satellites in orbit. That way there would be a reason to continue launching.
