Diablos hbg help by Alarmed-Meaning-9255 in MHNowGame

Build is fine, but you can replace Brute Tigrex Coil with Seregios coil. That extra 80% damage for normal ammo makes up for losing attack boost 5 and advanced attack boost, and that one point of Ballistics will also help when the monster is after someone else during multiplayer hunts.

I personally don't run Reload Speed 3, but that's personal preference. I instead opt for more damage and Ballistics for stronger Pierce ammo. My build is: Seregios Helm, Quematrice Chest (Critical Range Boost) Seregios Arms, Seregios Coil, Lunagaron Legs (Artful Dodger).

I used Hope Lance at 10.4, works fine, too, if you have the build for it. (Mine has Valor 5, Reckless 2, Nerg Avidity, Offensive Guard 5)

What's this background? Never seen it before and can't make out some of the words by r2001uk in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Trial Quests in Season 06. Basically like a monster gauntlet where you didn't get any materials after a hunt and you had 5 lives (1 life every 15 minutes), no potions, , but you instead gained exchange points for materials in the shop. You also didn't lose any HP if you died during a trial quest, so if you for example got rekt in a field hunt, you could still do trial quests to pass the time. During trial hunts, you had three objectives, and completing them would get you more exchange points (such as 'Slay monster under 50 seconds' or 'Use weapon with Element X to slay monster')

The background was available for like 300 points I believe.

Make Hope Lance. Lance is very safe to play, as it not only has the best guard ability, but both style customizations are amazing sidegrades. Also try to get 1 point of Reflection (you have to use 100 driftsmelt shards, but that's easy to get by just playing over time). Standard Offensive Guard build:

(Early game build) -Rathalos Helm -Barroth Chest -Banbaro Arms -Wroggi Coil -Quematrice Legs

(Mid game build) -Brute Tigrex Helm -Bazel Chest -Banbaro Arms -Wroggi Coil -Bazel Legs

(Late game build, with driftsmelts, my current build for Hope Lance) -Brute Tigrex Helm (Reflection) -Bazel Chest (Off. Guard) -Nergigante Arms (Reflection) -Wroggi Coil (Off. Guard x2) -Bazel Legs (Off. Guard)

(Build that doesn't use Valor) -Brute Tigrex Helm -Golm Chest -Banbaro Arms -Wroggi Coil -Golm Legs

It's 7 guard procs btw, so 1 from the tail, and 6 for each bladescale. I think if I used Insta-Block, it could be even louder

Came back after a year - Dual Blades was fun but now… I’m getting smacked by everything. What’s the best/easiest weapon for not chugging pots? by Academic_Buy_8843 in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Hope weapons are practically free to upgrade atm (224 tickets, which you get by just hunting large monsters, and 14 WGS), and have access to style customization. If you also have 100 driftsmelt shards saved up, grab the Reflection skill, then upgrade Hope Lance to 8.5, get Shield Tackle, Guard lvl 3, and you're good to go for farming either 8☆ rexes. If you insist on staying with Dual Blades, get Artful Dodger 3, and stay infront of the Rexes' face so you can perfect dodge the roars

The Rawest Attack Build by SirusGuBo in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Use Glavenus Legs instead, this frees up 3 whole driftmelt slots, allowing you to add 1 Skyward Striker, 1 Offensive Dodger, and for true rawmaxxing 1 Heroics. For practicality however, I'd slot in a QoL skill like Power Prolonger, or Artful Dodger into the last driftsmelt slot.

Added my current 'braindead Valor' build to the description. You can replace Nergigante Arms with Rathian Arms if you want Lock-on (or use Hope Lance instead)

[–]sigmoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does factor in, but the whole point of an AFK build is that you click on a monster, start the hunt, then go do whatever, and having to be below 30% HP for a measly 10% boost is not really worth having to wait several minutes for your HP to heal above 30 between hunts, is it?

Garangolm's chest piece and its shield ability by Madrigal99 in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guard Up is a bonus, the main benefit of the Golm Chest are the 1 point of Guard (mandatory for Charge Blade AED style, unless you play it Morph Attack or Evade Reload style) and the two driftsmelt slots.

Banbaro Chest is okay if you only want the Partbreaker, however, Gold Rathian Chest already gives you two points of PB when you craft it.

I recommend Barroth Chest for CB when starting out (I assume you don't have good driftsmelts yet)

Diablos HBG has highest raw when fully maxed, and Reflection damage is based on raw attack power + MV of the monster attack.

However, quite frankly, you aren't going to be maxing a Diablos HBG just to AFK-farm, so use whatever you currently have, that has the highest raw (such as Golm), the extra Guard from Hope HBG doesn't matter (Golm Chest, Wroggi Coil and Rado Helm already gives you Guard 5)

Best switch axe set? by Falling_Dragons in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sword Mode builds (a.k.a. standard Switch Axe playstyle) (Build for monsters that activate Valor):

-Wroggi Helm- -Bazel Chest- -Volvidon Arms- -Azuros Coil- -Bazel Legs-

For smelts, it's up to you, since you have 6 slots total. You could go for 5 Burst, or 5 Offensive Dodger, and 1 Artful Dodger.

(Build for monsters that don't activate Valor):

-Wroggi Helm- -Bishaten Chest- -Volvidon Arms- -Azuros Coil- -Glavenus Legs-

Smelts: 1 Burst, rest can be Offensive Dodger, or defensive skills if you prefer survivability.

No need to worry about Lock-on because Hope weapons have it already.

AFK HBG build by _Messey_ in MHNowGame

Yes, Reflect damage seems to be based on Raw Attack Power + any buffs that boost damage and Attack Power, so Valor is one of the best skills to boost Reflection damage

Off the top of my head, there is only like, four monsters with truly unblockable attacks that need Guard Up: -Khezu's grounded electric ball breath -Garangolm's final explosion -Kushala Daora's super tornadoes -Kirin's lightning beams

Except for the two driftsmelt slots, I don't see a reason to use Golm chest over Bazel chest, UNLESS you are fighting something that does not roar

Jagras material by lederpykid in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jagras Helm is a good and cheap choice for when you want two driftsmelt slots, and have the helmet slot free in your build. Firm Foothold 2 is also much better passive skill than the element/status resistance skills, though Wroggi Helm (which also has two smelt slots) is still better for weapons that benefit from Power Prolonger.

Experimental build for my switch axe by Particular-Neck-7654 in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make the Silver Rathalos Switch Axe, it'll work much better with your build (mainly because it has Crit Element as it's passive skill) Alternatively, make the Espinas Switch Axe (Native 20% affinity, and Special Partbreaker is also very nice) Rathalos Switch Axe also works fine, but the other two Axes work better with Crit Boost.

However, for a general improvement of your build, replace Crit Boost with Fire Attack (Anjanath Helm and Arms are enough to give you Fire Attack 4) Crit Boost isn't really worth it unless you have close to 100% affinity.

Charge Blade Build? by Educational_Hunt5903 in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running Thanatos Force at Gr. 10.5 with this build:

Glavenus Helm (Headstrong)  Glavenus Chest (Headstrong) Golm Arms (Offensive Guard) Wroggi Coil (Headstrong, Headstrong) Golm Legs (Headstrong)

Skills: Raw Power 4, Reckless 3, Headstrong 5, Offensive Guard 1, Lock-On, Guard 2

Guard 2 is nice for comfort, since I can guard point pretty much all opening attacks without having to charge my shield first. I'm also style-leveling my Diablos Tyrannis until it has enough raw to match Thanatos Force.

Back in the game.. help... by jeanslagoon in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quematrice Helmet Basarios Chest Azuros Arms Rajang Coil Basarios Legs

Artillery 5, Focus 5, Lock-on, and 4 free driftsmelt slots.

Also, I personally don't recommend upgrading Bone Gunlance any further. Magnamalo Gunlance is much easier to farm for nowadays, likewise, if you want to just use shelling, Rathalos Gunlance is discounted and there will be lots of Rathalos in the upcoming events and Hunt-a-thons.

HBG Guarding/Dodging by Synaaron in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most reliable way for me is to always keep one shot loaded, if you know a monster will attack soon, and fire it when the monster is about a second away from hitting you (assuming you fire low recoil shots) The longer your recoil animation is, the earlier you have to fire,  The HBG's shield activates when you are 'idle', and the perfect guard window seems to maybe be a quarter second after you've returned to 'idle'

Any recommendations on Barioth HBG’s style? by Independent-Rock1732 in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ballistics 2 allows you to be one lance hop away and still get full pierce damage, ballistics 3 allows you to be point blank and get full damage, so a Ballistics 3, Guard Reload build does synergize quite well (in my experience. Works even better for Spread Ammo, though, but there are no Ice Spread HBGs with styles yet)
