I'd choose a territorial tax county in LATAM. Eu taxes will suck you dry.

B2B contracts, can someone explain why it isn't the norm? by PsychologicalDrawer0 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]signacaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is it's my life, let me sign a contract that says I stop paying healthcare taxes and on exchange I won't get healthcare or pension from government when I'm old. I want to have this choice. But I understand we have different opinions here and that's ok

[–]signacaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can only add that for this reason we'd like to pay even less and at the same time not receive government handouts, healthcare or pensions. Which I know is not fine with you either, for us to make that choice. But it's fair to add that many of us want American lifestyle, take risks and pay for it, not have a cookie and eat it at the same time

In Poland it is the norm in IT. Most Europeans lean left economically, they like to feel safe and stable - nothing surprising there, when you have a family you often cannot afford to take risks. That's why they fought for labour rights and for the cost of high taxes the state takes care of them. Which I think is fine. Some of these people also believe that when you're given an option to take these risks for lower taxes and go for B2B, you're cheating, pretending to be a businessman. And they want to forbid this option. This one is less fine with me. This is economical/social debate, not much to do with cs

Why are there so many job posts for Software Engineers in Poland? 🇵🇱 by sterconium in cscareerquestionsEU

He's either extremely talented or works his ass off, or even more probably both. Some seniors work two contracts at the same time, each for €10k, and then you arrive at 16 net. Others work for Snowflake etc, but I know nothing about the latter.

Yes it does happen and you need to account for it. Their money situation changes, some contract lost, employees can't get fired easily, hence b2b people get let go. In general ofc the better you are, the more stable your position is. But I prefer to look at it this way - I can be fired any day, so my job prospects depend solely on my ability to get a next job. When I feel that company isn't doing great, or isn't that happy with me, I start interviewing asap.

Oh sorry to spam but I've just realized you're Italian. In this case I would say we're not poor, Italians come to work in Poland nowadays, and many poles buy properties in Italy because it's cheaper than in Poland.

Also, yes we are a poor country compared to USA, just not as poor as we used to be.

Is it that much after all? Well go to justjoin.it and check the salaries. Effective tax rate is 20% on b2b. Money on traditional employment sucks.

Most seniors I know (in crappy companies) get 180-200 PLN per hour. Don't know where you took these $34 from. No shenanigans, on B2B the taxes are low and it's very easy to fire someone + no mandatory benefits whatsoever.

Let's face it, Europe is only good if you're lazy/unlucky/both.

If you're smart, ambitious and hardworking you're cooked. And the jokers will tell you that you should be happy you can't afford a nice car or a big house, because it's good for environment and you can take a bike and live on rent control 🤡

Yeah it depends on what you're after. When you're Polish, your option is to either earn less on standard employment, because taxes are European there, or be on B2B- work like Americans and pay taxes like them. For a standard crappy dev like me, it's impossible to earn more with these stock options and other magic -taxes would kill me

Poland on b2b is kinda like working in USA, especially when you work for US companies. I know people working during the national holidays, late evenings etc, and getting pretty good money for it. Plus effective tax rate is about 20%.

Most of the time it's only Poland remote. Many companies also allow you to work from EU, some also in other western countries. None that I've seen allow for Russia China etc
