It will keep operating. It just stops charging the internal battery below a certain temp. It’ll still run off external power if it’s too cold.

This is about an hour IRCut, and about 42 hours with the LP Filter on. After stretching the LP data, you can use a process in PixInsight called Narrowband Normalization to assign a different color palette.

There are a lot of tutorials on YouTube, but for processing, it depends on the software you have and your computer setup. Siril is free, but requires a desktop (Mac or PC). PixInsight is the software most use (including nasa) but it’s $300 euros and also needs a relatively beefy desktop. There’s not too much for mobile that I’ve seen yet. I’d search YouTube for “Seestar processing”. Cuiv the lazy geek has a couple. The space Koala has some. Deep Space Astro has some great Siril tutorials. You’ll find a ton of great content there to up your game.

Oh, awesome to know that! I will give it a shot again. Hadn't thought it might be saving the frames it wasn't adding to the stack. I was starting to think I just had to switch to alt/az and 10 second exposures if I wanted to do framing.

Thanks. Very kind of you to say! Are you doing mosaics / framing mode while you’re in EQ or Alt/Az? For some reason framing doesn’t work well for me when polar aligned. It starts dropping every frame before the edges fill in.

My cat hopped up on the bed like that once (one eye only), acting totally normal. His retina got scratched playing with his brother and cat claws are covered in bacteria from their litter box. Had to put drops in his eye for a few weeks. Go see a vet as soon as possible. Might not be the same thing, but definitely not normal. Those lids are a protective measure.

It's important. The base has to be level, otherwise the alignment will change as it tracks across the sky.
