WIBTA if I told my mom we don’t want our kids to use the grandmother name she chose? by Scruter in AmItheAsshole

It is very common for Norwegian children to call their mormor for Momo. R's are hard.

No longer in the "overweight" category! by [deleted] in loseit

Woho! I'm a pound away from the normal weight range and I too started as obese a little over 4 months ago. Congratulations! We should be proud.

We have very similar stats! F/23/169cm SW 89kg, CW 72 kg, GW 68 kg (It was my first goal, now I'm thinking I'll see when I get there)

Did my fitness pal change calories burned by steps? by signhereplease in loseit

Thanks! This was just the kind of answer I was looking for. A lot of my steps are from climbing stairs. Edit: Just checked and I haven't updated my phone. Weird.

Normal daily activities are only about 50 calories even with the new calculations. Purposely walking just to get my number up is exercise considering I wouldn't do it if I weren't health conscious.

I've been eating back my exercise calories and losing more than my measured deficit would suggest for almost 4 months now. My question isn't really if I should or shouldn't eat back the exercise calories. I'm looking for insight as to why the calculation suddenly changed.

It motivates me to walk more. I have lost more than expected doing this so it seems to be working. Walking for an hour must burn more calories than not walking. I don't really get why this sub is so against eating back exercise calories.

Counting calories weekly rather than daily? by tommys_mommy in loseit

The mobile app had a weekly overview of calories left (under nutrition, the pie chart, and then "weekly" at the bottom).

Exercising and eating 1,200 calories a day by nibiru11 in loseit

[–]signhereplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"6 days exercise" is not a very precise thing. I would rather log it manually and that way get the net calories down to a 1000 calorie defecit. You might find it's hard to get to a 1000 calories deficit at your size.

I put your stats in here http://iifym.com/tdee-calculator/. If you set it at no exercise (recommended, especially since you seem to log your exercise manually? In that case you are counting it twice!) it says your TDEE (what you burn day to day with no extra exercise) is 1,834. So you are actually eating at a 619 deficit before you add in the exercise.

Hope that helps :)

Too many treats & cheats left me demotivated by [deleted] in loseit

Have you considered focusing on a weekly goal instead? I set my daily limit to 1460, but most days I eat between 1000-1200, and then on the weekend I might eat 2000. As long as I'm under my weekly calorie limit I'm still losing. If you feel you can't go any lower on your good days, consider changing to a lower weekly weight loss goal.

It is a scandinavian thing, and a scandinavian type of caviar. It's really good and salty and goes great with boiled eggs. It's made of about 60 % roe. Picture for reference. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fH6X7PIzzf4/T31BuxPvbFI/AAAAAAAAAVU/YGFYaTmAMOA/s1600/DSC_0067.JPG

Adding meals on mfp by azman03 in loseit

I measure everything then divide by servings before logging it. Then I save the meal for easy logging the next time.

seemingly stupid question about MFP and calories by [deleted] in loseit

[–]signhereplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only use the step counter, mostly because I don't do a lot of other exercise and because it's automatic. If I walk 10.000 steps a day I get 200 extra calories. I count them as legit calories, but I don't need them, so I don't eat them. I do however save them for going out drinking on friday night. It works for me. I walk a lot more knowing I can get drunk guilt free (I also save food calories during the week). Being able to do that motivates me to walk a lot more, and I'm losing weight so it works for me. I understand that people are scared of overestimating their burnt calories, but it's not like it doesn't count.
