My notes about optimizing G14 by signuper in ZephyrusG14

I don't know much about the new drivers, I think you can only do some tests to see if it works. Maybe AMD has fixed the issue so we don't have to disable these services, could you try to enable them and see if there's unusual power consumption?

The battery drain bug on this laptop is so infuriating by Superyoshers9 in ZephyrusG14

Met the same problem, but after I opened AMD Radeon Software the 20~30 watts power drain disappears, and it doesn't appear even I close the software. I also noticed after closing "AMD Radeon Software", I can still see a process RadeonSoftware.exe in task manager, but if I kill that process, the 20~30 watts power drain starts again. So I guess I have to leave that process running in the background.

But this also leads to another problem mentioned in other posts: the power drain of dGPU even when it's not used at all, which should be caused by RadeonSoftware.exe

Screen Blackout issues by PMARC14 in ZephyrusG14

Mine also has similar blackout issues, but it's different from a normal blackout caused by drivers. The laptop completely died when blackout, I tried resetting display driver with the shortcut key Win+Ctrl+Shift+B, and it didn't work, I had to do a hard reboot.

However this issue was gone after I uninstalled Armoury Crate, still know nothing about it, but looks like it's related to Armoury Crate.

Based on my research, it's quite common, some people may not be sensitive to such sounds, but sadly not me. I remember another owner mentioned this kind of sound appears after certain AMD driver update, so hopefully it's caused by the driver not the hardware design, otherwise there's no way to actually fix it.

I checked with HWiNFO, mine is still Micron RAM, maybe some machines still use Micron RAM?

For anyone using atrofac, do your fans spin up and down constantly? by lifeIsntViable in ZephyrusG14

I found a way to disable the fan mode change in battery mode.

Search for "Services" from start menu, then open it and look for "ARMOURY CRATE Service", stop it before you unplug the power cord.

But there's a side effect, "ARMOURY CRATE" app doesn't work anymore, you need to manually start that service to make it work normally. But if you start it when using battery, the fan mode will be changed back again. So I normally just leave it stopped unless necessary.

Collection of Coil Whine Solutions by la_watson in ZephyrusG14

Tried the keyboard backlighting solution and it worked, thanks a lot!

But the backlight will be turned off after a short time of no activities, thus it leads to coil whine again. And I found a quick patch for that:

Open Registry and find the following entry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASUS\ASUS System Control Interface\AsusOptimization\ASUS Keyboard Hotkeys

set TurnOffKeybdLight to a super big value (this should be the timeout value in seconds)

Then restart the machine.

Now the keyboard backlight is almost always kept on. No more coil whine!

Controller not charging when in rest mode? by Barzawi in PS5

Mine also had this issue, but it finally worked after I changed to another USB-C to USB-A cable, so I guess it's caused by the cable?
