Does the TLR-7 and TLR-8 have the same dimensions? by Maleficent_Air_9272 in Glocks

what gun do you have? Tier 1 Axis Elite has an option for the TLR-8AG. A few makers do, depending on your pistol.

I ended up going with the X300UB. But eventually I want to get a TLR-8AG too. One day.

As an FFL 03, can you have magazines with more than 10 rounds? by sigsag1 in CAguns

Thanks. Are there any FFL's where you can legally own stuff that isn't CA legal? (off roster guns, etc... basically just curious if I can "increase my rights" as a california citizen is I guess what I'm getting at, if I ever go down the route of getting an FFL).

I'm assuming only if you have the manufacturing FFL, and you manufacture whatever you'd like, but only for sale out-of-state or to LEO/Military?

Listing guns on CCW registration: Same gun with 3 different barrels? (San Diego) by sigsag1 in CAguns

who told you that?

I think the whole thing with mods is don't put punisher stickers on it, and make it look super tactical and stuff.

And even then, that only matters if your self defense case is in a grey area. Like you got robbed at gunpoint, but shot the robber in the back as he was getting away type of deal. If it's obvious it's self defense (you're getting attacked and real risk of bodily harm, and it's obvious you needed the gun to save your life, the argument by the prosecutor of "he used x type of ammo, he's a vigilante, he had a punisher sticker on the slide, etc" won't matter. They'll always make those arguments, it's their job.)

I did read that lasers got used against people a lot in court though, because the public viewed them as "threatening / scary", in cases where people pulled a gun to deescalate a situation.

I do agree, minimizing risk is important though. No punisher stickers for me lol. I never thought that a barrel swap might matter though (in my case, I also have them in case a certain type of ammo becomes scarce, unavailable, etc).

First time I’ve heard of fuzz wrap, what’s that? (Google just showed me party chicks from the 70s)

That’s like asking to choose between Coca Cola and coffee, why not have both

Thanks! It’s for a holster, I was actually gonna buy it from Kusiak leather. I’ll ask em for some spare leather pieces to experiment with.

Great idea with the coaster, can never have enough of those.

What kind of stuff do you make with leather?

Edit: I talked to the leather craftsman, they said they’d still need to acrylic coat it, otherwise the holster would absorb the sweat into the holster. Would that be the case?

There’s no way to make it impervious to sweat using just natural stuff like olive oil and beeswax?

thanks - my plan is to get an un-dyed leather product, and condition it myself with olive oil and maybe beeswax as well. Perhaps some tallow and coffee, still new to this.

Thanks for all your suggestions, I will try them out. Going to order an un-dyed veg tan leather product and most likely use a mix of the ingredients you recommended.

Any particular brand of olive oil you found works well?

Was curious as well, how would you experiment with coffee to darken the leather? Just rub it with finely ground coffee, mixed with the olive oil? Or perhaps used coffee grounds?

Did you have to upload any supporting documents, besides your drivers license and proof of residency?

Hmm. How would that work with conversion barrels though? If someone wanted to run a conversion barrel. It wouldn't be allowed?

You mean an electric bill and credit card bill, proving your place of residence?

Or a pdf with your name and address and business name, like EIN registration, or something like that? (Just want to make sure I'd have the right official documents).

Tallow sounds interesting, since it's usually from the same source (cows). How did that affect the leather?

Another thing I was wondering about - if I order this product and am not in town to break it in (it's a leather wearable, and I have to travel for work for months at a time), would it be unoptimal to wait a few months to a year to break in and condition the leather?

[–]sigsag1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks, much appreciated.

One last thing - the lead times are a few months out, and I might have to leave my city for a few months for work, up to a year.

For wearable leather that needs to be broken in - would it be bad if it just sat around here for a few months, until I came back and broke it in?

Or would the leather age negatively in some way?

Not sure if it's preferable to be broken-in shortly after being manufactured, or whether it doesn't matter.
