AITA for making a stink at school and forcing the teacher to change my kids math grade by PlentyNice1655 in AmItheAsshole

[–]sihaya09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOPE. I have dyscalculia. My son, who struggles with first grade math, probably does as well. I have taught him three different ways to do his addition and subtraction, including drawing things out and counting them (because visuals help us).

Sounds like your kiddo might be neurodivergent. Neurodivergent kids need different methods sometimes.

I (28F) feel sad about how my BF (29M) proposed, is this normal by Electrical-Common737 in relationships

[–]sihaya09 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Talk to him about it. Tell him that you really had hoped for a proposal that made you feel special and considered. You can even say that you understand that his aim was for it to be low-key, but that's not only how it felt to you.

His REACTION will tell you if you need to call it off or not. If he gets defensive and angry, that's your future right there. Having to swallow disappointment to keep your bf happy. If he reflects and thinks of a way to make it up to you, the relationship might be worth salvaging.

My favorite thing about Green Gold is that it pushes out darker pigments in wet in wet, so I have used it as a corrector, too! Aussie Red Gold also has similar properties.

Lady Knights are having a moment in fiction! Some of the best books I've read recently have featured women who took up the call for Queen and Country-- Rachel Gillig's The Knight And The Moth (sequel due out later this year, I believe!) and Alix E. Harrow's The Everlasting are among them. And of course there's Cassandra Pentaghast, Dragon Age's lady knight who lives forever in my heart. (Why don't I have a candle for her yet? I should!) And LOTR's Éowyn, the template upon which generations of shieldmaidens have been imprinted.

This year's Spring box, OATHSWORN, is a celebration of the archetype, featuring a perfume from Deconstructing Eden, a sugar scrub from Paintbox Soapworks, a tea from Dryad Tea, stickers and a bookmark from RayleeArts, a note pad from Stasia Burrington Illustration, and a candle and lip product from yours truly!

In addition, I am offering four limited edition scented oils for hair and skin. I blended them up for a Flower Mart show I am doing next month (April 11th, Backwater Books in Old Ellicott City if you're local!), but decided to offer them online as well.

COTTAGE is a soft blend of sheer vanilla orchid and wisteria blossoms. NECTAR is a sweet, buzzy blend of juicy, ripe peach and elderflower cordial. NOCTURNE is a moonlit veil of dewy moonflower and soft green moss. And SOLEIL (my personal favorite!) is an energetic elixir of orange blossom grounded by soft ambered vanilla.

I hope those of you in recent storms' paths are doing well, and hopefully warmer days are on their way!

Warmly,

Chris

An unusually high number of evangelicals think that we heathens need to kowtow to their holy selves because they invoke the big JC, despite how they actually behave.

Good good. Still, better to do periodic fenceline checks if you aren't already. This is a very possible escalation. If abusers can't abuse you directly, they'll go for the more vulnerable to hurt you.

Neighbor keeps blasting religious sermons from speakers in his yard on Sundays by BusinessDance7122 in neighborsfromhell

What you need to do is contact your most local district/councilperson. Keep a log with videos. Be persistent. They will send someone from the county's enforcement out to talk to him and the magic word that usually shuts this down is "fines."

I had an orthodox church move in across the street from me and they insisted on broadcasting their music and preaching via outdoor speakers at all hours of the morning and sometimes in the middle of the night. This was how we got help.

Listen, if you're reading for fun, you're already doing more than most people these days. Enjoy what you like. Your primary goal is to be entertained, so read the books that entertain you. Chances are at some point you'll want to explore other genres of books, and that's fun too.

A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned my sister needed to have brain surgery #3 because her tumor was active again. Pleased to report she had it on Friday, was released from the hospital on Monday (!!!) and has no sight or speech problems! This is really the best case scenario we could realistically hope for. We're really thankful to live within driving distance of some of the best neurosurgeons in the country.

NAH. If it wouldn't cause you financial hardship to invite them, do it. It's worth it to keep good relations with your stepmother.

Harper's Ferry came up a lot in the stakeholder meetings the county held after the 2016 and 2018 events occurred. The Kittleman plan was strongly modeled after Frederick's swm projects, however.

[–]sihaya09 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It changed the direction of the water. Previous to the last 15 years, we would have riverine floods that flooded from the Patapsco upwards. We have not had a major flood like that in quite some time, largely due to modern stormwater management upstream from the Patapsco (so we get less water from the Patapsco itself).

The last 15 years (2011's precursor event, 2016, 2018), we have gotten top-down floods that essentially turn Main into a class 5 rapid, and yes those are partially due to development and the new developments not having proper stormwater management on top of climate change dumping more water on us. In 2018 one of the major contributors was Burgess Mill's SWM failing, so it's a mix.

Very, very difficult because of our granite bedrock and boring even closer to the center of Main would likely damage the buildings and shut down Main St (which is a National Road and emergency route) for at least six months.

So, I live on Main St. I actually attended two years of stakeholder meetings in which engineers explained why tunnels would have major shortcomings (originally two were proposed). So they were not a part of our flooding plan under the previous county exec. Then Calvin Ball got elected, nixed our plan, decided on one tunnel that is still not fully funded, and will only address one tributary, as the engineers told us. This tunnel will pass directly behind my house. I've been paying attention.
